I followed this lovely lady's tutorial on her thread and made this
ta da....
finished it - golly I was terrified I was gonna muck it up - I was sweating at one point scared to do the next bit but when I was stuck I clicked on the pictures in the tutorial which supersized them and then it made sense - I am sure the words on the own to most people would have done but I just got myself in a muck sweat about it and looking at the fab pictures in the tutorial calmed me - I have still got to stuff it properly yet - its got two bags of pasta in at the mo so they will have to come out - what is best - some folk say cat litter - I dont know the first thing about that as I have a strong aversion to cats!
lovely - I want to mke one of these for my little girls room in a gorgeous peter rabbit fabric I have got. Must try and get round to that this weekend.....Latest Sockie, Miss Rosie
fabby! Did you use socks for this one or jersey fabric? it looks brilliant!shirlgirl2004 wrote: »Thanks I had noticed the Janome simplicity dm3000 but also wondered on the Brother Innov Is 350SE. Not sure that Brother is a very good make though. I just liked the idea of script on it I wouldn't use anything other than straight and zigzag otherwise. Will have a look at the 5124 if they still have it. Recommendation always helps.
brother is a good make - my sister is a professional garment technologist and did textile and esign at uni She rates brother quite highly, especially when it comes to the more budget range of the spectrum she also said to avoid singer. they aren't what they used to be apparently!!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

The Simplicity DM3000 looks like the Janome 8077 to me by the write up, it just has a hard case instead of the soft case supplied with the 8077. This is where ideally we would all have a sewing shop on the High Street so you could go in a have a play before you buy.
Brothers are a popular range and owners seem to be happy with them.
The only reason I went for a non computerised machine was that I believe they are more expensive to have serviced. That might be worth asking about when you phone them.
Has anyone had their machine serviced recently and could help with how much we should expect to pay?0 -
Thanks everyone, I opted for the Brother in the end. It has a 5 year guarantee and SMD's service has been great. I didn't want to spend too long considering because I have things I want to do. I'm off out now so had to order now to get it tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be happy - for a while at least.;)0

What luck Shirlgirl, you got to upgrade your machine with full cash trade in on your old one - result! I have a SMD budget Brother and I am really happy with it, it's coped with quite a lot of things that 4 months ago when I bought it I swore I would never need it to do! Hope you get it tomorrow so I can have a peek on Friday!0
