I`ve made this basque for a friend who is a nurse and loves wearing `fun` things :D The pattern is a fancy dress one although its got that plastic boning in it.I`ve just to do the eyelets at the back now so i can thread ribbon through it.

The front panel is a shade of purple but it looks more blue on the pics.
Don`t look too closely at the stitching etc :rotfl:
ps: Its being modelled by a pillow NOT my friend lol

:rotfl: I know what you mean, my OH just rattles things off to me and expects me to know what he means, I think I will have to do the same to him when it comes to sewing :rotfl:

It took me 3 years to pluck up courage to buy off Ebay then another yr before I sold :rotfl:
Im just not tech minded, just crafty :rotfl:

Good Morning Ladies (any any gents if your about on here)

I am a total newbie to sewing, I struggle to sew on buttons - No thats a bit of a lie. I do cross stitch though.

I am hoping you maybe able to point me in the right direction, I have never used a sewing machine in my life, however I am hoping to get a bit more perosnal this Xmas and was hoping to make an apron for my niece and possibly a few other bits and pieces but forst things first I need a sewing machine. I have been looking at the Jerone Mini Sew, would this be ok for a starter like myself who only plans on making little things, no heavy fabric just cotton really.

I dont fancy paying out an absolute fourtune on something and find I really cant get on with it, but the JML Easy Sew does not look as impressive and lacks some other stiches which the Jerone has.

Wow I coul dhave talked a load of drivel then as I really have no idea what I am looking for for a basic beginners sewing machine.

    Any advice would be welcomed.

    Thanks

    Sarah

Don't get a mini machine! I've had two, and they were both a complete nightmare, couldn't even handle cotton, let alone garbadine for workwear. And the complete lack of stitches meant I couldn't do proper repairs anyway. You're much better off saving up an extra £25 or £50 and getting a reconditioned or even new mechanical branded machine that won't make you want to throw it out the window!

I'm itching to make something for myself now as well! So many ideas too much procrastination.........

Lovely dress. I tried to follow your blog, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do this?

For anyone who subscribes to Sew magazine, I've started the jersey maxi dress that was featured in the April issue (yep, I'm working on two maxis atm!), has anyone done this and how did it turn out?

I've added the followers gadget to my blog now, I've never followed anyone so I didn't bother adding it. I use google reader to keep track of the blogs I read (nearly 200 of them! I must prune some, its getting ridiculous!) so I've never understood how the followers thingy works!
