I promised to post a few photos of my makes a couple of weeks ago but I've only just gotten around to taking the pictures. You can find them on my blog which you can get to by clicking my name on the side.
Just purchased the fabric to make an apron and placemat for my Nan for her birthday...may even try using bias binding...hmmm!0 -
geekgirl, thanks for the suggestion. The thought of trying to sell on line is a bit scary. Is there somewhere I could look for tips and how to avoid pitfalls?0

Evening
Just popped in to say hello and hope that everyone is well.
Still no stitching but have managed to sort out all my sewing things, I brought a large tool box on wheels and have sorted all my things into that so at least I'm tidy now. Went to the market and got a few more ribbon and buttons.
Vix24 your makes are great.
Has anyone every covered a lampshade, thought I might give it a go, any advice would be gratefully received thank you

If you join etsy or folksy there are forums where you can ask questions and etsy has a handbook that gives you lots of tips.
I have an etsy and folksy shop and I am sure there are a few more MSE'rs that do so you should be able to come here and ask a few questions. Things are a bit slow selling everywhere at the mo so it won't be a quick fix but I have a slow trickle of sales on etsy.0 -

Take care
I have covered lampshades before. A couple of tips, make it tighter than you may at first think you need it, put some tape over the metal so that the fabric isn't in direct contact with the metal.
If it is a very small lampshade you used to be able to buy spray that you could spray the inside of the shade to make it less flammable.0 -

Oh no sorry to hear that you were getting into the swing of things too went you.
Could you ask on free cycle if anyone has one they no longer use?0 -
Oh no winniepooh - that's not good. Try local ads or if you have fb there's sometimes a local community group, we've got one.
I've just re taught myself crochet with the help of you tube. Doing treble stitch but am ending up with sides getting longer at one end - any help?! Thanks!2015 £2 Saver #82
