Rufus, Have also had the same trouble on some other blogs that I have tried to leave a comment on, so maybe it's something wrong with the blog site? Sometimes half the word comes up and sometimes just a couple of dots and nowhere to press enter! (or maybe it's my computer!)0

I have gone right through my settings checking everything so cant see why some people cant leave a comment and others can, doesnt make sense lol. Thanks for trying though xx
I just managed to leave you a comment, so hopefully it's fixed now! I'm sure if anyone else has difficulties they'll let you know here. Best wishes from windy Liverpool, fingers crossed the rain holds off!0 -
Hi Everyone,
Can someone help me? I have decided to start quilting and I have found, what looks like an 'easy', pattern/tutorial online and I now need to sorce my fabric.
The pattern uses jelly rolls, and as I have only been introduced to them today I need help on where to buy them? Are there any good websites with good p&p rates that you use? I am looking at making a 'spring' quilt so I am looking for a whites/cream jelly roll and a pastel colour roll too. I quite like the moda 'flora' collection but i am open to other brands as well. Your experiances and help will be much appricated. :-) Jo xxProud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!0 -

I made my own using a rotary cutter & ruler - cut 2.5 inch strips the width of the fabric (although I used fat quarters so my strips were half the length) I bought some cheap cottons in fabricland although the cotton selection is not great atm - I think it must be a seasonal thing.
I found the cheapest place other than ebay was here - although the fabric is in yardage not meterage. They sometimes do jelly rolls and (they are not on the website atm) half-yard bundles which are good value.
The Moda bakeshop also has lots of great free tutorials.0 -
I sew but have never made a quilt. I want to make a lap quilt for a present. I have a rotary cutter/large cutting mat and a quilter's ruler. I know - why have I got a quilter's ruler but don't quilt! I saw it and thought - that will be handy! Anyway - help and advice please - how big is a lap quilt - are they easy to do and how much fabric will I need?Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Sorry for the late reply but I haven't been on the forum this weekend.Hi flossie217, I've just found this post of yours on a search, I realise it's a bit old - however, I'm thinking of buying a Janome 5124, and would love to hear your opinions of it, especially now you've had it a while. Thanks!!
I have been extremely happy with my machine. I am more of a crafter than a dressmaker. It has sewn through several layers of denim with ease although I went over the leg seams very slowly just to make sure I didn't break the needle.
I haven't worked any very lightweight fabric so can't give an opinion on that.
The fabric feeds through nice and straight and overall it is a really nice machine to use. It's not the prettiest of machines to be honest, I'd describe it as more of a sturdy workhorse. Perfect for all general sewing, crafting, dressmaking and curtain making.
I can't think of any negatives about this machine if it has the features you are needing.0
