Sainsbury's checking IDs

I totally agree with fluffykittens, it really will not stop binge drinking as those underage drinkers will just find another means to get their hands on alcohol. I also do not throw a wobbly every time I get asked for my ID I'm 28 and think its kinda flattering when I do which seems to be a lot more often lol:), luckily enough I always carry my licence and before I had my Licence I used my passport, at the end of the day its not the staff at Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda etc who are to blame, they are simply doing what is required of them. Its not fair on them if Customers throw a strop just because they get asked for id or get refused if they dont carry any id.LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT0

why should you have to pay for a passport or driving licence if you actually have no need of one?
Because clearly you did need one in this instance, for this shop.
Of course you don't have to pay a tenner, once, to have peace of mind for what is an occasional problem for you. You could always continue to buy alcohol without carrying accepted ID and occasionally throw a wobbler and leave your shopping and go elsewhere, then start an 8 page thread moaning about it.Nothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0 -

how does it benefit me?
why should i have to have yet another card to prove yet more information, which is already on many other existing cards, & which dosnt do anything else?
eg. pay with a credit card, you have to be over 18 to have one
college/uni id cards have the date of birth on them
College/uni cards are easily forged using a basic PC and printer.
Anyone can have a credit card it doesn't prove your age. You need to be over 18 to have a credit card account but not a card, you could be a secondary card holder in which case you can be any age. So which cards do you have that prove your age?If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -

^^ True.
The only acceptable forms of ID are driving license, provisional or full, a passport or another card with the recognised pass symbol. 90% of people are going to either have a drivers license, or a passport, if you don't then it's your own fault. I got a provisional license just so I got a form of ID. For the price of £12 (citizen card) it means you can go about your shopping in the knowledge you don't have to shout and swear at someone for doing their job.Silenced by the Gestapo :rotfl:0 -

I will say it again. A provisional driving license is NOT an acceptable form of ID. This is due to the full checks not happening until you apply for your full license. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
I get asked for ID all the time, but Im 22 and I know I look young. Also, I drive so always have my licence in my purse. However today at Asda, I showed the checkout girl my driving licence & she refused to believe it was me!
It's four years old & I guess I was looking a bit rough (tracksuit, no makeup etc) so I said well I can show you my credit cards in the same name and she refused saying I could have borrowed someones entire purse!! I ended up asking her to call the manager over who agreed my licence pic didn't look like me & then made me sign a piece of paper to prove my signature was the same! I was there for over twenty minutes, with the correct ID and still had problems.
I understand there is a problem with underage drinking but that was ridiculous!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
