If this happened to me, I would let the spotted moldoon of a shop assistant to put the lot of shopping back on the shelf and be out of the place.0

i had this is Tesco for fags not so long ago, i am 29 and maybe look a bit younger than most 29's but still it's clear i am not 25 or 18.
I just went to the garage in the same store brought the fags there then told the garage staff their collegue was a tit and left. its a completely stupid rule and people seem to take pleasure in not serving others with stuff just because they can.
I dont carry ID i have no need in normal places as i am not a kid and i dont look like one.
I did ask to speak to the manager in tesco however i was directed to a huge CS Q and i have to say she smirked as she told me that was where i had to go.If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -

Well of course she probably did because it comes across as you being the tit. As has previously been stated, the checkout operator is well within her rights to refuse to serve you if you cannot prove your age if you look to be under 25. Once again age is also very subjective, so although you may think you look your age she obviously did not. Telling her colleague she was a tit wont get you anywhere cos she was just doing her job. Why is it that people get so offended to show ID. It seems here that it is the ones who do not routinely have any ID on them that get annoyed?0 -

There is no legal requirment to carry any form of ID. Neither does the 2005 Licensing Act have a requirement that anyone attempting to purchase alcohol must show some form of ID."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
When I didn't have any ID I just didn't buy booze, or got my ex (when I was still with him) to get it. I knew I'd most likely get ID'd and didn't want the embarrasment. Of course, now I have some I'm all "why don't they ask me anymore!!"
Seriously, Citizencard is only £12 (I thought it used to be £10) which shows +18, Proof GB cards have +18, +21 and +25 cards and is only £10.95, and Validate card is £10. They all have the PASS hologram. I'd say it's well worth it instead of the hassle of causing a scene and leaving your shopping.
Although not allowing sales of alcohol if you have your toddler/child with you is bloody stupid. It's not like you can leave them in the car whilst you go shopping or let them wander off when you reach the till. Even if it's teenage children you have it's still silly. I think if you were going to be supplying the young with booze to drink in the park you'd make them wait outside wouldn't you? :rolleyes:Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0 -
I'm 26 and nearly always, without fail, get ID'd.....it's annoying when they do it to me, yet serve my 20 year old sister fine  As an aside, the week she turned 18, she kept trying to get ID'd....yes, she's odd....it wasn't til she put an alchopop and a packet of skittles on the belt that she actually managed it....forth attempt
But, I also know where they are coming from, so always carry my driving licence anyway. The fear of god was put into me when I worked both in checkouts and pubs, so I may have been somewhat overly cautious..... I almost never got ID'd until I actually turned 18, so I think I'm aging backwardsI did have to laugh at my local garage a few years back though. I pulled up and filled my 125cc scooter with petrol. They let me pay for that fine. Then they tried to ID me for a lottery ticket. I'm like, well, you just sold me petrol, which requires me to be 16, and a 125cc requires me to be 17.....you work it out :rotfl:
But, no -one ever trumped my baby faced ex....who got IDd in HMV for a DVD. IT was a 15. He was 22 at the time.....he was not impressed:cool: Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -

Exactly.
However, it is clear that the Labour Government would love nothing better than for the population to become even more sheep-like and carry ID.
Whilst they would doubtful legislate to this effect, I am sure that they would not be averse to any measures that would make the carrying on of our daily activities to be most difficult (if not impossible) without ID.
To be fair, I'm not totally convinced that any of the other major political parties actually have a markedly different attitude...despite their pre-election posturing. We'll see.0 -

And it's this kind of attitude that gets boring. I honestly don't care if you leave your shopping at my till. It's your time wasted afterall. You're the one who has to shop again. I have had this happen to numerous of my colleagues and I happily remove the shopping and return it. It's part of our job! Don't do it and we'd be out of one.0 -

This age recognition thing works both ways. Many years ago in Florida, my wife and I, who were in our mid forties at the time, were given some sort of OAP discount in a restaurant by a youngster who obviously had no idea of our real age. I suppose it is like when small children think everyone over about 25 is an old person. Funnily enough I never have any trouble getting any OAP discount that might be available nowadays.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
