I've had a few days away from major decluttering as I've been painting and doing last week of school term type things!
Anyway, I've got back to it over the weekend so can add to my list:
26. 4x single sockets (replaced with doubles ages ago)
27. A money counter that eats batteries (charity)

31. Pile of dd2's drawings etc (photographed and recycled)
32. Some old headphones (bin)
33. Bag of books (charity - pending)
34. A huuuuge spider that was lurking in a box (spider heaven - sorry)
35. Pair of ripped trousers (charity for rag bin)
36. Another old towel (ditto)
There is more to come later!
Quite a bit in as I'm decorating etc:
Picture frame for card I liked and have kept for this purpose
Lap table thing for dd to use lap top
Big mat for front door to save new carpet (old one now in playroom)
Pictures - on wall (no old ones as didn't have many before)
Some baskets for storage (on sale in Dunelm)
Bean bag for dd
Floor tiles and carpet (now on floor and left over in bin!)
Well done everyone and thanks for updating - I love this thread! :j

I love this thread!
I've been trying to declutter for over a year - it's going so slowly though as I'm determined to keep stuff from going into landfill so I'm trying to freecycle/donate/sell as much as poss. The temptation is to keep junk to find some way of reusing it in crafts or other projects. Has anyone else had this kind of problem?
Today:
IN - groceries
OUT - recycled a load of cardboard and plasticTrying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Tackled the cupboard on top of DP’s wardrobe today, as he doesn’t usually horde and is happy to throw away anything that’s not nailed down, I was shocked at the amount of crap I found in there, including 2 identical CD’s which he didn’t know he had!
Out:
Loads of paperwork put in recycling, some to be shredded tomorrow
Other paperwork ready for filing
Pile of old birthday cards - recycled
2 remotes for video recorders we got rid of years ago – charity box
Bag of 22 books – charity
10 audio cassettes - charity
2 blank videos - charity
4 road maps - charity
2 road atlas books – charity
Electric shaver – charity/Freecycle?
Hair conditioner bottle – recycled
A few random items - binned.
Also DS visited yesterday and took 3 bags of stuff from his room
Pending:
DP’s duplicate CD – Ebay
Camera – Ebay
47 other items listed on Ebay over the weekend (2 with bids)
About 10 used envelopes to take to work later in the weekWeight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I used to have that problem, but since finding this thread I've been more ruthless, and have got rid of loads of stuff I've kept for years just in case it came in handy for something, lol! However, like you, I don't want anything going to landfill if there's an alternative, so most of it has been recycled in some way, i.e. recycling bins, Ebay, charity or Freecycle.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I'm delighted to have got rid of over 150 VHS tapes via freecycle - your list reminded me I've also got some old audio cassettes too. No idea what's on them but I'll try freecycle, I'm always amazed by what people will take!
I haven't tried Ebay or Ebid yet but I will soon.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Oh yes - that's me too!
But I'm being ruthless this time and tbh it gets easier as you get into it.
It is definitely less work when you end up with less to put back and it feels great! :j
When I hear myself saying I might need an item for something, I remind myself I've said that about the same item at least once or twice and haven't ended up using it!
I've just made up a box of craft items for my local Womens Project as they run craft sessions. I feel it is going to good use and that helps.
Also, if you have stuff that can be used for crafts, your local childrens centre or youth clubs will probably be glad of them?0
