    Morning all!

HAve been away from the forums for a few days but have managed a bit of decluttering:
    • chinese dinner set (unused present from about 4 years ago - still in box with seals on) to a friend
    • pile of books to a friend
    • plant pot to a friend
    • 2 pairs trousers ret'd to next from a month ago - didn't like them on
    • 2 bin liners full of bedding/ clothes/ shoes for charity - going tomorrow
    • 1 holey school bag to bin
    • 3 pairs holey/ too small shoes/ trainers recycled
    • pile of paperwork recycled
    • small pile of magazines (given to me - 3rd person to have them) recycled
    • 2 ebay parcels posted
    • few jars of jam and fruity ice cream sauce oddments used for steamed jam sponges - jars recycled
    • presents/ cards to 6 teachers all from stash (and giftbags)
    • birthday present/ card to DD's friend from stash
2 of my children have now broken up for hols - one breaks on Friday. More will go then - I know some of his school socks are dodgy and will be going in recycling!

DH starts a new job on Monday and will be working away from home Mon-Fri - not the best timing with school hols starting on Monday, but it is a job - which he hasn't had for the past couple of weeks. I'm hopeful of getting some stuff done whilst he's away (you know when you have to make a mess (get it all out) to sort and clear it? - he hates that, so it gets done in iddy-biddy bits, which isn't as effective) but not all the hundreds of outstanding diy jobs that I was hopeful he may do over the hols :(

    IN:
3 items from next sale for present stash (VERY restrained!)
new laptop for DH (written against company expenses)
    new phone for DH (ditto)

Pile of ebay items sat in the next room to list - will crack on with that when he's away, too - he hates it!!

Right - off to wake up the only one going to school today!:D

Holidays started and so has the decluttering. Got rid of loads over the last couple of days. Five big black bags of stuff gone to various destinations. Got loads to do, but made a great start, and even the children enjoyed it once they had got started.

Making a list as we declutter of what we need to buy as the outgrown school shoes/jumpers/blazers etc need to be replaced.

    Happy decluttering everyone. x

Morning all. I have a confession to make... I was led astray by a friend and went to the M&S and Debenhams sales yesterday and came back with lots of new clothes for not lots of money. They were all needed to replace worn out items I have binned so I am actually really pleased.

Only 2 more items gone from the paperwork pile (total now 27) and 1 more for the general total (now 34).

I am planning a blitz on the paperwork over the next couple of days so hopefully will be reporting back later with a much higher total.

Well done Sue14 for reaching your 100 in 10 days - that's a fabulous effort.

Keep on with the good work everyone.

    Hi everyone,

I've been decluttering for a couple of weeks now, and still have LOADS to do, but I'm getting there...
Is there a specific challenge everyone is working towards? Or is it just get rid of as much junk and clutter as you can.

Also, I don't suppose there are any photos of lovely clean and clutter free rooms for inspiration are there???

    Hi everyone,

I haven't been on the de-cluttering forum in ages due to our friends visit from NZ, a holiday and other commitments!! I have however found my de-cluttering mojo again and intend to have another good clear out over the next few weeks!! :j

The .... dare I say it.... 'loft' :o needs a sort out due to me stuffing things just inside the hatch prior to my friend visiting. I'd forgotten it was all there until we need to go up there the other day and stuff was in the way - whoops! I have a load of paperwork that needs sorting / shredding and my summer clothes and underwear draw to clear out etc etc...

So I'm back and ready for action!!!!

When does the next 100 in 10 challenge start??

The most popular challenge is the (get rid of) '100 things in 10 days challenge', but you can set whatever challenge you like and post back with your progress. I just list anything that comes into the house (over and above the usual food/toiletries purchases) and what I've managed to get rid of each week. I don't have that much time for decluttering, so can only do small amounts.

It's free listing day on Ebay this weekend (24th & 25th) , so I pledge to list a minimum of five things.

    Hi All

DS has friend round all day tomorrow so it's my intention to declutter around them & I am pledging 20 items to be decluttered, bootsale boxes (been in living room for 2 weeks) to be put somewhere more appropriate and the massive pile of clean clothes in my bedroom to be put away properly.

I did it :j - took me all day yesterday and most of today though (luckily DS had another friend around) - I feel so much better for getting back on top of things particularly putting the bootsale stuff away

    OUT

    22 items of which:

    10 To Charity Shop
    4 To friend
    4 To textile recycling
    3 To bin
1 Catalogue back to Avon Rep

+ shed loads of general recycling & rubbish.

    IN

2 bargains from TK Maxx clearance - T Shirt for DS, Cute cow patterned storage case - gift stash for cousin obsessed with cows
    Lovely sandals - Ebay bargain
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

    I'm struggling with decluttering!
Thought I'd start on the spare bedroom and all the clothes I don't use, can't fit into and list on ebay or bag up for charity shop....
Result... bigger mess... nothing listed... night spent trying things on... more clothes back in my already full wardrobes:eek:
I'll try again today & put my ruthless head on.

After my recent mass decluttering (arrival of workmen) I have to say that my life has been transformed. Although the effort is tremendous the result is equally tremendous. No more fear of opening cupboard/looking under beds/pulling out drawers.

I sent a set of drawers off to get french polished the other day and we just took out the 3 drawers and tipped the contents onto the bed  it certainly helped to focus the mind. I would say that three quarters of the stuff is now in the bin. :j Now there is only the 6 drawers in the kitchen to tackle and I will do them with great objectivity.

Clutter drains the energy out of me and I can't believe that it got so bad. Surfaces are NOT for putting things on, apart from wine glasses. Going to back to my previous mantra 'Don't put it down, put it away'.

    Fingers crossed then?
