Hi, I was just the same until recently, everywhere I looked was clutter and although I knew it needed sorting, like you I had no idea where to start, so I kept putting it off. Then I found this board, and was inspired to make a start, and now I am gradually starting to have a tidy home instead of piles of clutter, although I've still got a long way to go, lol! A lot of stuff has gone to charity shops, some has gone on Freecycle and Freegle, and I've sold a lot of things on Ebay so I'm making some money as well, which is a nice bonus! You wouldn't believe all the '!!!!!! have I kept that for?' crap that has been binned too, lol!
It can seem daunting when getting started, but the best way is to do a little bit at a time, decide on one small area and get stuck in, even if you only do 10 minutes a day you will soon start to see a difference, and when you do you'll be inspired to do more. Reporting on here what you've got rid of can be very helpful, and getting rid of stuff that you don't need or use is very liberating. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your progress, if I can do it I'm sure you can, and when it's all clear you can get the place decorated how you want it.
Hugs

That is *so* trueone drawer at a time. The whole lot doesn't seem manageable, but one thing is - put the timer on, or your alarm or whatever, for ten minutes time, and stop then. You can do more later on if you want, but just do ten minutes that first time.
I certainly felt overwhelmed by the idea of my loft, though the house isn't too bad at all now, after all the energy I'd spent on it. So I got a friend to be here while I went up - in fact, he poked his head up first, and then I went up and actually did it. My back hurt like crazy doing it, but thats a different storySo those are the two tips: do one tiny thing, and/or get a friend to be with you when you do something.

39. Toiletries (really boring that my decluttering is just this kinda stuff but shows how much I have:o), used up, packaging not recyclable (bin)
Tally so far = 39 things decluttered, 18 sadly to bin, rest recycled/charity.
NOw up to:
40.41. More toiletries, packaging not recyclable (bin)
Total so far 41 things decluttered, 20 binned, rest recycled etc. Just about keeping on track for getting rid of 150 things in June. Need to buy some clothes (never been too bad at that side of things strangely). But need to start attacking the general stuff that is around.
Happy decluttering. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Good luck with the blitzing/clutter clearing. I'm just going to start on the bathroom now...“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -

An order from white stuff, need to try on later to see what I'm keeping and what I'm returning. I am desperate for summer clothes so this is not an impulse purchase and I did use a discount code and quidco. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
