You are all doing well, must just be me dragging my heels!

DS1 & GF came to stay last night. As GF is a very tidy person she has made DS1 make a start on his room. Don't think DS1 very happy but I am exstatic!!
Will sort through all the stuff they have put out tomorrow when I am feeling stronger!!

Please can I join in this thread...trying really hard to declutter bit by bit but the quicker I get it out the quicker everyone else brings something in!
I have also bought 2 new de-clutter books off amazon, whilst already buying and reading one a few months ago, and a feng shui declutter book. I find it so hard, whilst my head knows what to do I can't seem to get my body to follow. Now I need to declutter my declutter books along with everything else!!!!
Plan is to do it slowly but surely with maybe some mad bursts inbetween.
I have just gone through a lot of shopping receipts and in the process of shredding so I'll add that to my list.

Welcome Dizzy Lizzie. I've got a similarly large collection of de-clutter type books. Have found that joining this forum & actually making a start on getting rid of things has been really motivating. Good Luck.

    Quick update

    IN
    • New personal organiser in the sale - was getting sick of lugging my big old one around - old one a genuine filofax so might try to Ebay it
    • Fleece for DS in sale
    OUT (later today)
    • Birthday present to Cousin 1
    • Birthday present to Cousin 2
    • Christmas present to Aunt :o
    • 2 X Books to give to family members
    • CD for Auntie
We're having a family get together today to celebrate Cousin No1's 75th birthday - she's quite a bit older than me & is an honorary "Nan" to my DS. All the family will be there - really looking forward to seeing everyone. Expect I'll be recovering tomorrow (only takes a couple of glasses of wine to give me a hangover these days) so have got up early to try to have a tidy around this morning.

I stumbled across this great thread a week ago and it inspired me to get going again on decluttering. I do have my moments with decluttering but when life gets busy it is an easy area to neglect. So, in the last week I:

threw away a fleece waistcoat that I haven't worn for a year (it was too tatty to give to a charity shop)
deleted old files off 3 old style computer disks and transferred files I wanted to keep to a memory stick, then threw computer disks away (feel guilty about adding to landfill but didn't know what else to do with them!)
took old hair straighteners (I had some new ones for my birthday) to charity shop along with a watch, one book that I had just finished and one DVD.
put out of date money off coupons (harder to use now that Tesco are fussy about taking coupons!) into the paper recycling bin
gave a shower scrunchie (fresh from a Xmas gift box) to a friend who I know uses them

I have brought in groceries and some birthday cards but I am being really good at the moment in sticking fairly closely to my shopping list.

I am just starting my major declutter, I did one last year but have recently looked around and realised loads of stuff has migrated back into the house, and I can not cram anything else into the garage  and it was clear a year ago :( Work is a bit full on at the mo, so initially it will be slow progress I think, but I will keep chipping away.

It starts tomorrow with OH clearing out his side of the bedroom and getting rid of his chair and PC desk which is now redundant. DS having chair and Bruv having desk :T

If I have any that the cashiers wont take then I go through the self scan tills, you can use a couple before it jumps up and asks the colleague to confirm. I have loads of 25p MOC for cheerios which the kids arent keep on so I just use a couple of those each time. Not sure why the supermarkets are getting fussy, when they are processed they arent checked against a receipt to check the item was bought.

    Hello declutters

Today on a whim we have started the great loft declutter!

    So far out:
bag of books for the library (will take on Tuesday)
Bag of stuff for the scrapstore (will take on Thursday)
an entire hall full of cardboard boxes for recycling
my old college files full of paperwork for recycling

Pending: a massive pile of stuff for a carboot sale!
