OH working at home and it throws my whole routine (though he really does work all day ..) Dont know what I will do when he retires - should start planning now I guess. QUOTE]

I used to find that too, if OH was working at home. I always said I didn't like to disturb him by turning the hoover on as it would disturb his phone calls! Since he took redundancy last July the house has got a lot more cluttered, and neither of us tidy up in much of a hurry. (Except when the threat of visitors looms!) If your OH hasn't got any hobbies I'd encourage him to take one up, because when he retires and is home all day, he'll just be under your feet!

Mine didn't have any hobbies and still doesn't, unless you count sitting on his laptop on the sofa a hobby! He has never been one to help declutter so I have to try and do it around him. It doesn't help that everyone keeps giving us their spare stuff to dispose of via Freegle or charity shops. Still, I keep having major stabs at it... maybe by Christmas the house will be decluttered to my satisfaction!

Going to start another 100 in 10 days challenge next week... (yes, I know I only got up to 47 in the last one but I lost count and didn't have the time to devote to the rest, it just had to go!).

Thanks for your your good wishes - my foot doesn't really hurt much now, but I do have to try and keep it elevated to keep the swelling down - I've also been using Arnica cream which is brilliant for bruising ( a must in my household with 3 children around lol).

Anyway, am trying to keep resting, but can see lots of things that need tidying and it really annoys me - think I will have to tackle the ironing later :D

Emptynester ~ I would recommend getting a D*s*n. I’ve had 2 and only had to get a new one because I broke a bit off the hose and couldn’t be bothered to get it repaired, so gave it to my Mum (my StepDad had vacuumed up loads of DIY dust and broke their one). I really want to get the rollerball one [STRIKE]but there’s nothing wrong with my current one[/STRIKE]. (Actually since I wrote this the clip on the hose has broken… May need to get a new one after all ;))

    39. Old batteries - in bag outside pending visit to the tip

Hi in a minute - don't know if you know, but batteries can now be recycled. ANy shop (like Wilkinsons, Tesco, Asda, Aldi etc) that sells batteries must also collect them for recycling/disposable. Aldi have a plastic bucket near their tills/window for this. Hope this helps. :A

Got rid of a few more things to a charity shop yesterday - had a clearout of CDs, and odd dishes in the kitchen. Then also got rid of stuff via freecycle - am always amazed at what goes on there. Stuff like broken electrical equipment (probably for spares), beddings, plants, bits of cars (!), loads. My rule is... if I don't need an item and I want to declutter it:
    - could someone else (friends/family/someone at work) use it?
    - If not, is it good enough for a charity shop?
    - If not (say awkward stuff, like electricals or something heavy and you don't have a British Heart foundation or other charity shop that collects) then consider freecycle or freegle. If you're not a member ask someone who is for you (like loopychriss has friends ask her:)).

FYI I have no connection with freecycle, am just a hippy green person who hates stuff going to the tip. Hence anything that just has to go to the tip is highlighted in red in my sig.:(

Some of us are struggling with the 100 in 10 days stuff (me included) - I wonder if we should do a turbo declutter day? So instead of trying to declutter for a full 10 days, go for a target of say decluttering 25 items in 1 day? So still really tough but not too exhausting for us (or me I should say). Who's up for anything like this? :A

    Afternoon ladies....

I know I said I was off to have a rest but after my OH's efforts this morning I felt compelled to tell you all he has had a sort out in the garage!!! :j:j

Although there is still more sorting to be done we have taken some bits to the tip, there is a bicycle that I will freecycle and a pile of cr*p that has either gone into the recycling or rubbish bin.

janebo glad your foot is on the mend, arnica is fabulous isn't it for bruising
mineallmine I took the batteries to the recycling area at the tip so made sure I was being green :)
purplevamp i too thought your cupcakes were lovely!

Right I'm off outside again to enjoy the sunshine!

    tshirt for me
    knickers for me :D
    4 books bought by DD
    birthday & Easter cards bought
3 for 2 on No 7 from Boots - had £5 No7 voucher and £4 in Survey Boots vouchers so 3 x my fave bath stuff cost me £7 :D:D
some spellings revision/ help books for DS1 (4 of them)
5 John Rocha/ M&S/ Red Herring tops given to me by my mum - she was going to charity them. If I don't like them on I shall ebay them at 99p start prices :D

    OUT:
2 tops of mine (holey) & 1 of DHs to recycling bag
some OOD food items used from cupboard - hooray!
1 pair of holey tights to recycling
1 huge paint tub - has a weeny bit left in, but it froze and has gone manky when defosted :( At least it was only a weeny bit, I suppose.

    PENDING:
27 items on ebay - 10 have bids with 59 watchers (so I'm hopeful the prices will rise a little!) and a further 10 have a total of 40 watchers - so hopefully a couple of those at least will go as well......

Ironing pile is also decreasing, DH is decorating DS3's bedroom (ready for carpet to be fitted there and DS2's room on 8th April) and some salad leaves seeds have been sown. More seeds to be sown in the week - I'd like to grow LOTS of stuff this year!! :D
