Oh yes, IN - Nothing! Well, groceries yesterday.

Sorted out the cupboard above the cooker. Found a new slow cooker! This is a small one though. Taking this to my sister the weekend. Found some more plastic cutlery - DH has taken the spoons to use at work. I have no idea where all this cutlery has come from.
I found loads of ice cube trays, a set of kitchen utensils, a plastic Lightening McQueen table cloth from DS1's birthday almost 3 years ago.
And loads of plastic carrier bags which have started to break down.

And another thing - if the washing ain't in the basket it don't get done! Takes a couple of weeks to filter through but they get it in the end. ;)

I am definately finding that posting every/most days on here keeps me motivated. Can't believe we're 2/3rds of the way through Jan & I'm still going strong.

    IN
    Post
4 grocery items - all reduced or on special offer
Latest Tesco magazine - will be recyled when read

    OUT
    Emptied the kitchen bin
Photo frame taken to charity shop

Think it is a good idea if you have something to aim for. Since starting on the decluttering I have decided that I want to re vamp my living room in a few months time & give it a bit more of a minimalist look & that's not going to be achieved with a load of old junk around.
  • Evening, all!

Afraid I've done nothing today :o Have been at work all day, just had tea nad now need to study for exam I'm taking tomorrow, so only popped in quick to catch up! To make myself feel better, have decluttered my office a little bit, taking other people's carp back to them that they leave in my office, for some strange reason (probably so theirs are tidier! )

Anyway, came in to find DS's coats all over the coat cupboard floor, was cursing him as I thought he'd just thrown them all over, but then noticed the rack had fell down! Definitely this weekend's job to declutter!

Got a book from the library called 'The Life LAundry's how to dejunk forever' (or something!) so will post any tips here once I get to reading it.

Keep up the good work everyone :T

Thanks so much Mrs M, Sleepless Saver and Janebo! Just back from the charity shop (4 boxes) lighter! As for the spreadsheet - what I did was to set out my budget (absolutely everything ... only cheating yourself if you decide to ignore things like hairdressers, seeds for the garden etc) and I only work with cash except for supermarket and petrol. I do my accounts on a Thursday (ie count whats left in my purse and account for the card use) and see how much I need to withdraw in cash to get me back up to my starting cash (at the mo its £140 a week). The cunning spreadsheet keeps a running total and at the end of the month tells me how much I have "saved" on the month (or gone over budget if that should vere happen!!). I decided not to put the actual physical money in a jar because I am trying to pretend I am a grown up and we have a linked mortgage in our bank a/c so it saves money having it this way. I do however have a £2 jar and an egg money jar (out of which I buy hen food - in profit on that if you dont count the capital outlay on their coop).
As for not buying stuff its like being on a diet - once you have decided that you are going to do it no further decisions need be made. Unless something actually breaks/falls apart (and I dont have replacements stashed away....) I dont need more stuff.

That spreadsheet sounds like a good idea, I should get used to dealing in cash only - it's too easy to use my debit card and not really notice what I'm spending. Good tip - thanks! :T

What motivates me is seeing the results of decluttering: tidy shelves where I can actually see and find things:j:j

Lots to do but it's a start.

Lovely white Picture frame :o (need to swap this with an existing frame - I have a tendency to breed them...)

    OUT

    Yet more recycling & composting

Tomorrow's challenge - fill up charity shop bag & get it to the shop. I need to shift some stuff not just rubbish & recycling
