Hi Everyone I joined the thread on 8th January and I have made a start decluttering....
In
New school bag for son replacing one being thrown out
Out
6 text books that I used when I was at college 27 years ago
Grey hat and glove set daughter grown out of
Blue hat and glove set son grown out of
2 x broken torches
2 pairs of trousers that have been sitting on husbands locker for months (they don't fit him any more.
Numerous pieces of paper have been shredded, put in recycling and filed in their proper place
Old school bag for son (which was broken)
I have put a whole lot of paperwork on hte dining room table the plan being that I will sort it out
I am also trying to deal with post as it comes in every day rather than piling it ujp in a corner
Aim we live in a bungalow and you have to walk past our bedroom. It would be good to be able to leave the door open knowing that all people would see was the furniture that was in there rather than all the other rubbish. Also to be able to get into darwers/cupborads without having to movr stuff from in front of them would be so refreshing
I keep trying to get my son to tidy his bedroom everday "Do as I say not as I do" explaining that if he does so he won't end up with pilexs of clutter every where?

Morning all - I usually plan my day at breakfast - lap top on kitchen table. So here is todays plan ... deal with the kitchen paper pile hotspot (thanks Mrs F for your useful list of housework terms!), take old hi-fi unit to the charity depot, put all the washing away (love the term floordrobe!) and fill my daily bin bag. "A bin bag a day keeps the c**p at bay". And give away a box of biscuits to a neighbour.
Bon courage fellow declutterers.Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.

Good Morning everyone. Half day from shop this afternoon so hope to get something done later.
I hope you get some good tips from the 'Life Laundry' book Spendaholic Chick. I seem to remember it was a good programme when it was on tv a few years ago.
Had to have a little laugh though as when I decluttered the books I threw out 2 or 3 books like this one that had remaineed unread, had never sorted out my clutter problems & had eneded up as clutter themselves!
Have a good day. Remember, the charity shops need us.0 -
Morning all
Been so busy at work havn't posted here for a week - but I have managed some decluttering.
2 cases unpacked all contents sorted & a nice bonus - £80 of assorted gift vouchers (presents from Christmas 2008!!!)
3 bags of girls "craft bits" condensed down to 1/2 bag
bookcase moved & 4 boxes of CDs & DVDs unpacked from storage & put away
1 kitchen cupboard cleaned & sorted
2 boxes of kitchen/bathroom/doors/bricks etc brochures recycled (now build in 90% done what have I kept them for?)
I still need to find shredder as I now have nearly a big bag full waiting to be shredded - will give this job to DH when shredder is found
Thats it for now - enjoy your dayDeclutter 2023 110/520

Morning all ….
In; Bits of food and post.
Last night I sorted out two draws in the kitchen whilst cooking dinner, unfortunately I didn’t manage my normal 1 hour per week night de-clutter. However, some carp did leave the house, I also found £30 M&S vouchers, £10 garden centre voucher and a £5 note in these draws so all in all a successful draw de clutter!!:D
Out;
Dried up biros, plastic cutlery, random bits of plastic tat, lid off a jam jar, pastry brush, old takeaway menus – bin / recycled and a ‘Butler’ wine bottle cover into pending charity bag.0 -
morning all
did almost all the ironing yesterday then managed to almost blow my iron up  smoking instead of steaming is not good when its still plugged in. i tried the spare this morning to finish of but that didnt even have a glimmer of life in it so it will soon be 2 irons out and 1 new one in a think .
done ironing all put away, need to sort out the spare coat hanger bag and cull a few of those, also going to tackle the odd sock bag and once ive got to the bottom of the laundry basket any odd socks left will also be culled.
