Hope your son gets better soon and glad the accident was not worse although the broken leg was bad enough:eek:
Rosyred
I'm sorry about your aunt but glad she could see the children etc.
DD(15) managed to knock DD(24)'s mobile phone off the sofa a few days ago - straight into a large glass of water! One of those accidents you could not do if you tried.
After about three days of trying to dry it out, I decided enough was enough and treated her to a new handset while we were shopping in Morrisons today. Saved about £25 as they were on offer and she managed to transfer her saved numbers over so very relieved.
DDs have just cooked a meal - fresh salmon, green veg and mashed potato - really enjoyed it. They had trifle for afters and I had fresh fruit as I am determined on a healthier lifestyle.
We seem to be spending a lot more at the supermarket now everyone is home but I am buying much healthier stuff, more fruit, yoghurt, fish etc and don't go out shopping every day for bits and bobs the way I used to do. Have decided to use the fact I can't do as much yet or go out much as a way to keep myself away from the rubbish calories etc.
I do not want to join a slimming club as the weigh in etc got too stressful in the past. If I lost weight, I ate to celebrate- if I stayed the same, I ate to cheer myself up- if I gained half a pound I ate like crazy in disappointment. Have told myself I am concentrating on eating nutritous food that is full of vitamins and low in fat, salt and sugar- rather than losing weight as such. DH reckons the weight is falling off me so hope he is right.

Rosyred - My condolences on your aunt. Thinking of you and your family xx
Topsyturvy - hope your DS is on the road to recovery and that his appointment with the consultant goes well on 14th.
Sunnygirl - thanks for the link to Storecupboard challenge - will try and have a nose when I get chance.
purpleivy - your garland (sorry in my family we don't call them wreaths as my mum tends to associate those with funerals) is lovely!
wmf - hope DSS is feeling better soon. LOL at you hearing yourself snoring - I've done that many a time!
NPM - Chocolate buns......receipe please if you have time?!
Managed to mop floors downstairs, vac upstairs and down. H has put a load of the decorations and some baby toys in the loft and one lot of washing hung up. Will go and see if there is enough for another load but don't think there will be.
Have Mount Iron to tackle tonight - might see if H wants to watch one of his fulms.....hmmmmm Jason Statham in Transporter 3 or Paul Walker/Vin Diesel in the Fast and The Furious (the last one). Spoilt for choice with the eye candy on that one
H back at work tomorrowbut then again it's back to normal routine.....I swear motivation to do things leeches out of me when he's home
Have a good evening all.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hi All
Not quite the same, but the TV is about to feel the on switch for the first time since Christmas EveI've had a rule for years, no TV Christmas Day, and it sort of grew and grew :rotfl: Actually said to DSs "you may have TV on if you want" and DS3 said, "no way, I prefer not having it ":T:T We've had a brilliant Christmas, DS3 and DS4 came home and we've thoroughly enjoyed each other. Have played computer games, cards, yahtzee and all sorts, and talked the hind legs off several donkeys:D:D Visited with DS2, DIL and DGSs and web-cams to Canada have been frequent and now it's back to earth with an almighty bump
I bought a great deal less food etc this year and it's worked out great. Just enough to send DS4 home with a food parcel, and the same again set aside for DS4 who goes home tomorrow. I'm basking in the glory, but have to admit it was pure fluke
NPM I just love your description of Noah " emptying his brain " Just soooooo descriptive :rotfl:
ivyleaf, sorry you're not absolutely tiptop, good excuse not to do too much " ooh I'd love to, but I might break it " :rotfl:Hope you get back to normal soon :kisses3:

Hi Everyone! We've been in Germany for Christmas with DDIL's family - lots of lovely food and drink, but quite different from our own traditions.
Elona - my mobile got soaked a few weeks ago. I pulled it apart and placed the bits in socks in the airing cupboard. It took 10 days, but it did dry out eventually and is now fine!
Rosyred, so sorry to hear about your aunt.
Topsyturphy, hope your son continues to make a good recovery.
Hve been trying to sort out the bombsite aka the dining room today - we are entertaining on New Year's Eve and it needs to be much clearer by then! Still, every little helps!
((HUGS)) to all who need one today.Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Bitsy/Bargainbird the choc buns are not anything special, they are my quick ones for when DS wants some for snack. They are only basic sponge cupcakes:o.......4oz butter/marg, 4oz sugar, 2 eggs, 3oz SR flour and 1 oz cocoa. Then once they cool a bit I put melted choc on the top, quite a thick layer of it;). They are very easy and DS loves them0
