:hello: Good morning all! and WELCOME to our new posters!
I havent posted since Christmas Eve, but have been reading. Had a lovely Christmas lunch with DD1 and family, and DD2 & Co came over in the morning. DGS found one of the soft cricket balls in the toy box and soon had his uncle playing "catch" up and down the hall :rotfl:
Pipkin I so sympathise about the mice! DS (24yo) has been hearing noises in the night the past few nights and last night spotted a mouse in his room - somehow I don't think he'll be so careless about leaving stuff like pizza crusts in their box on his floor any more! I (guiltily) woke DH to ask if he could remember where the mouse traps were, but he couldn't on the spur of the moment, so will have a look today, and we also have some of those ultrasonic things (though I can often hear them) which are meant to make the mice decide to go elsewhere. I think DS will be reluctant to try poison, as he'd worry about perhaps not being able to find the corpse! I read in the paper the other day that a lot more people are having problems with mice now. And of course they would tend to come indoors when it's so cold.
MSD - Glad to hear Tris is feeling better :j
halight - Your poor Twin Two, glad she is okay. I couldn't help a chuckle at her sister prodding her cut though! So typical of that age!
NPM ((((HUGS))), so sorry you can't have the peace and quiet you crave atm x
Bitsy - I wonder if perhaps your DS could take something of your DH's to bed with him to cuddle - something that smells of his Dad? It might at least stop him waking in the night wanting him. Just a thought.
taplady - I hope poor Janet gets home soon! Very sorry to hear about your auntie too x
Had such a bad day yesterday in some ways - my spatial awareness seemed to have gone all to pot and I had only to look at something and it would spill, or fall off the worktop, etc, and I couldn't concentrate. I made cottage pie for dinner and it wasn't nearly as nice as usual eitherThink it may have been because I had some alcohol over Christmas, so will make do with a cup of tea to celebrate the New Year!
It's 10.30 and I'm sat here in my jammies and dressing gown as I don't want to disturb DH by going to get dressed, and I can't "get on with stuff" if I'm not dressed, so that's partly why I'm on here
We had turkey curry on Boxing Day, and I had a turkey sandwich for lunch yesterday - it's all gone now :j though after last night's uninspiring cottage pie we might have a takeaway tonight to be on the safe side. I fancy going to Bluewater but I know it wouldn't be wise (the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak) so will probably try to rest a bit instead.
Hope everyone has a good day xx0 -
Well I thought I had posted earlier but it seems to have gone into the ether....
Good morning.....(((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one.
Its a cold one here but dry. I have washing in the machine, may put it out for a bit and then finish it off on the radfiators and airer.
Monday clean done.........I will clean Thursday downstairs, so we start the |New Year clean, Scots here too.
I have 3 aims for 2010.
1) Loose weight.
2) keep our food shopping under control.
3) Pay off the O/D we ran up when we moved here.
I am valiantly trying to keep the £15 I have in my purse......I am going to try and draw the HK in cash and portion so much for groceries and greengrocery etc.....any money left at the end of the month I will draw less from the bank the next month......trying to pay down the O/D as quick as possible.
Not sure whats for supper tonight.....will have to have a rake through the frdige and see what needs eating up. The smoked salmon and salad last night was excellent.......just a bit of trifle left enough for one, we also have a piece of christmas pudding left to eat up.Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning everyone:hello:
I've just been to Tesco for a very frugal shop -I normally go to Waitrose but for the few things i needed it seemed daft to drive the extra distance. I made a long list of all the food in our house and realised that yet again I probably didn't need any more for a few months:rolleyes: However I did need milk, eggs a few fresh fruits and veggies and of course things like loo roll, washing powder, tissues. They had loads of cut price chocolates and snacks in there. I bought a half price tube of Pringles- the kids think it is Christmas:rotfl:
My menfolk are all busy with Airfix models- we have a Lancaster bomber and a Vulcan bomber. They look very impressive I must say. OH is trying to muscle in on ds2's model. Looks like I should have got him one too! Dd has gone for a walk with her friend and friend's family plus their spaniel.
Split pea soup for lunch using some of the stock from my Christmas Eve ham.
Supper will be egg and chips and maybe beans too. Chips done in the oven-wedges really but we call them chips.
Pudding will be cold slices of Christmas pud fried in butter with cream.
Wasn't it a good telly night last night? Cranford followed by Outnumbered. Outnumbered resembles our family life surprisingly closely lol! Especially the bit where Sue pours herself a glass of wine at 11 am and says 'well it is Christmas'.....0 -
Good morning guys,
It's lovely and sunny out there but by gum it's cold. Brrrrrr!:D My lovely sis has just called for the kids and taken them out to the zoo for a few hours. We were all still in our PJ's as I thought she was coming this afternoonbut it only took 10 mins to sort everyone out.
Plans today are first off a long, lesuirely shower without having to stop and referee the kids, followed by a whole house tidy and hoover. There is a small pile of washing to do followed by a small pile of ironing, This evening is a nail evening for me and DD and a haircut for the boys.
Lunch today - the kids will eat at the zoo, I probably won't bother. Tea - for them fish and chips and mushy peas, for me - the last of the leftovers.
I need to get my pennies up to date and then work out a budget for next year as I want the house double glazed and get a pot going for knocking through both lounges into one. I have had a builder look at the job and he is going to give me a guesstimate so that I know what figure I am aiming for (when I have a pot near enough I will then ask for quotes from several builders). My one big resoloution for this coming year is to loose some weight, an ongoing situation. It won't be by dieting (doesn't work for me, think yo-yo) So over the next few days I am going to devise a monthly rolling meal plan that is healthy, nutritious and varied and begin it on the 1st. The first thing that has to go is the lager followed a close second by cornish pasties (love them).
MSD - glad to hear Tris is feeling better.
Taplady - thinking of you. xxx
Anyway enough rambling, Gentle hugs to all in need today and keep warm everyone. xxx

Good morning all,
Well i have made a start to the bomb site that is my house this morning, have cleaned the kitchen and have a chicken in the oven as i still have quite a bit of christmas day veg to use so we are going for christmas dinner mark 2!
I keep looking at the sitting room and the mountain of toys that needs clearing away, i so wish my ex in-laws would spend their money on less presents of better quality rather than £300 each on 4 children for bags full of !!!! that get broken or lost within a month! I have no idea where i am going to put it all.
The kiddiwinkles will be back from their dads this evening and i cant wait, it has been a lonely house the last couple of days without them and really has dampened the christmas mood.
Hugs to all in need xx
Leigh xxI will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

Morning all (just!)
Still slippy out,and freezing fog too.The dog had the shortest walk ever this morning as I was scared of falling.
Feeling sad today as my cousin rang last night to say my auntie had died. She was terminally ill,but had been sent home from hospital nearly 2 weeks ago,and hadn't seemed too bad-we didnt expect this just yet.The nurse who called yesterday said she had a chest infection,so I think her heart just gave up.She was lovely and really helped me when my Dad had lung cancer.I'm consoling myself with the fact that at least she was at home and all her family were there, and that she was not as bad on Christmas Day so she enjoyed seeing her grandchildren.
Don't know what 's for tea, fancy something totally unChristmassy.I've got steak fajitas in my head.I need to get the BM on,and the washer is going.
Will hoover shortly as my friend is over tomorrow afternoon, and I think DB,his DP and DN are calling in the morning.DN managed to drop a Chris. mug I bought and filled with choc for her on Christmas Day,and was upset,so I thought I'd see if Tesco had any left. There were only about 4 on the shelf, and were reduced :DTaken my pressies upstairs so they are out of the way.
Hope everyone is OK.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon all!
Rosyred - I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, my thoughts are with you and your family xx
Well it's bright and cold here today, and I'm cold but not bright lol! Found an extra bottle of wine behind the tree yesterday, a pressie we missed, and had a glass whilst catching up with a friend and trying to sort out some away days for us with other friends - cripes it's hard organising everyone when they all have grown up, was so much easier when we were in our teens!
Was then planning on curling up in bed with some cocoa, but some friends locked themselves out so though it'd be a good plan to come here and rummage for a fry up and coffee! So feeling a little worn out today!
Kids are at their dads for a couple of days now, so I should really be getting on with stuff, but am I heck! I need to nip out and get a pressie and card for a friend's birthday and I'm meant to be meeting a Mr Potential for a late lunchtime drink - but we shall see!
OS stuff is going to involve sorting out cupboards and freezers and making meal plans I hope, also need to feed the hoover and mop the kitchen, though that seems a slightly thankless task with all the muddy paws that keep walking over it!
Time for a cuppa and a catch up and then onwards and upwards! Hugs to all who need them xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi Everyone,
Really hope to keep the posting up when I go back to work it really helps focus my mind. Posting meal plans definitely help as I can just go look at my own post when I am stuck on an evening!
Trying to have a relaxing day today as been running round for weeks and want to appreciate the time off before I have to go back (Wednesday). So instead of a to do list here is my new year's resolution list:-
1. Make the most use of my new Wii and get fit in the New Year, get into a nightly routine with it while OH working.
2. Learn to drive
3. Bring lunch to work
4. Be enthusastic and have more energy at work (it IS my dream job, I just keep forgetting that LOL)
5. Stick to the OS and food boards on here - (a) because I end up in rows on grabbits and such things (usually my own fault) and (b) It is not very MS to spend lots of money on "bargains", I will stick to being inventive with food as I HAVE to buy that.
6. (Can't believe I am having to edit for this it should be number 1) - GET HEAD OUT OF SAND and write to all Debtors and agree to pay a certain amount every month, set up DD for all bills so I am paying the SAME every month and can work out how much I am left with. And don't treat OH weekly contribution from weekly pay as "pocket money" when I have paid for everything out of monthly wage.
I hope you are all well. Although I am not always here and do not always respond to you by name, I read all your posts and am happy to hear all your good progress and give hugs to those who need it xDebt Free Wannabe by 1 January 2016

Mummysaver get out and see mr Potential...you never know it could be a new start for the new year;). I nearly didnt bother with my first date with OH and would have regretted it so much if I hadnt as he has made such a difference to me and DS`s life.
Am back from softplay £20 lighter:eek:
Just having a coffee and checking the weather on here, apparently more snow for yorkshire on Weds.
Am just about to make rocky road cookies and choc buns with DS and get decs down.
Well better go as DS rolling round the couch throwing cushions and shouting as he has an eyelash in his eye:cool:0
