I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat!!!!!!!

Jim's soundo on the rug in front of me.. I remember when I came home with him, it was as if he'd been here from the beginning of time.

You were probably not that far from me today - when I read the thread the other day and saw FCs link to Paddy I realised that it was only about 30 mins from me - if I'd had the time, I would've offered to check him out for you - I did give it some thought, I promise you. Knew deep down I didn't have the time and have been silently praying that you would still go for Paddy anyway! Phew, I can breathe at last................. shed the guilt...

Will you still call him Paddy?

You're thinking like me JB. English Cocker but Irish tag, can't be right.

Maybe slip to Bertie? As in Burlington Bertie From Bow. He is black and white as in Tux or Tails.

I changed Jim's name. I like Paddy tho. Suits him :D

Go on then, Jim's name was?

    Not Froonc.

    It was, poor little kid.

Trust Essex girls to go OTT.

Where is Jim? Hopefully not under that lot's legs!

Glad you went! Sounds very good so far!! Yes, I think you need his vac certs otherwise the vet may want to do his puppy innoculations again to be on the safe side - ring your vet and ask!

I bet he is relieved to be in a home again - do not be surprised if you get a bit of whining and crying tonight, Badger was quite unsettled at night at first, but she soon got over it.

We do need more piccies now though!
I have no thoughts of bed tonight FC. He has separation issues so tonight I will maybe slump in a chair, we shall see.

He has anal gland probs as skated earlier and is now licking his legs furiously. Come Monday and the Vet, all will be sorted.
He will be one happy boy.

He's not sure how to play nor bark. He enjoyed a bit of a kick-about in the kitchen. His bark though is subdued. Almost like our whisper.

    Thanks so much everyone.
  • I'm so pleased you came home together. What a lovely start to the New Year for you both. :D

I would expect, if he has been wth an older person, that he has been used to 24/7 company - no wonder he gets upset when left alone.

I wonder if; as his old owner was in failing health, whether Paddy's health got a little neglected towards the end too - I am sure that after a visit to the vets and a week or two of good food and care he will be a different lad!

Badger didn't know how to play either, was scared of water, other dogs etc.. she is not now - today she has had a good run with two labradors she hadn't met before, and she now happily paddles in and out of streams and ponds... and, whilst she has no interests in balls etc, she does love to play!

Dying to know what's happened?? :D

Paddy looks a lovely lad, although I'd say not a blue roan. Definitely a cocker, maybe a larger one. He's probably confused and unhappy.

I have to say, I'd be there like a shot!! Hope it's all going well.
No idea claire as to colour. Black and White, with some spotting on his white parts.
I thought too Claire he was a Springer from the pics.. He is so small, you wouldn't believe, nothing like the pics.

    Congratulations - I have been following your story mutter! :j :T :A

I love this part of the forums it's like a real life animal "soap opera!!"

Good luck to you hope you both have a wonderful life together - I'm a great believer in fate and think that Paddy was meant to find you......but you just had to drive 3 hours to get him!! :D

Can we have some photos of Paddy soon please? Are you keeping the name?

Thanks catlou, what an appropriate name for a pet forum:D

I was indeed thinking of changing his name but call him Paddy everytime, suits him somehow. Also just had an email from daughter saying don't dare change his name.

He had a good first night, I slept on sofa. Went for walk this morning but what with him pulling and the lanes a sheet of ice, the sheer effort of remaining upright nearly killed my back.

He is a shoe stealer. thinks it great fun with me chasing him.

He also likes chasing the garden birds. Now there is some justice or Karma directed at me in this. I am forever making hissing noises to remove a cat as it really gets me when I open the blinds and see a pile of feathers.

I thought as an added bonus Paddy would keep away the cats, but no I've got a bird chasing dog instead. If he tries for a Pheasant he's sure to succeed, they're so thick it doesn't occur to them to fly, just run.
