Today has not turned out at all as planned. First, I was phoned to help out at coffees after church as the regular person had a fall and is in hospital, then DD announced she had an invitation to twin friends' 18th this afternoon - and she had no gifts, cards, paper etc...

Cue huge rush to get that sorted, dropped her over to Whitstable, then back home for a very late lunch. I left to pick her up at 5pm, clear until the village on the hill, then hit crawling traffic. There had been far more snow on that side, which had just melted a little, then frozen - an ice rink.

As lil_me knows, us southerners cannot cope with more than a couple of snowflakes, so it was total chaos. There were two police cars out, helping sort out the stuck motorists, and worse, the double decker buses that were slipping all over. The very worst bit was when I was just a little way down from the brow of the hill, when the bus came slipping down towards me... I was debating whether I could get out of the car and leap for the hedge, when fortunately, he got control. I drive a Micra, fairly tiddly next to a double decker.

It took me an hour to make what is usually a 15 minute journey. By the time I collected her, they'd got a gritter through, and the journey back was straight forward. I need a very large drink - or tea and biscuit! I'd have left it for a bit if it had been as bad this end when I left, but it's really unusual for it to be worse tha other side of town towards the sea.

So, that put paid to my plans for the day - I was going to finish my work early, then do what I wanted - bit of flying, getting cards down, filling in my new dairy diary (one of my favourite things to do for the New Year!). I may designate Tuesday a day off in lieu!

I really hope that those of us that have to go into work and school tomorrow have a safe journey in, and a peaceful day!

pigpen - you sound more cheerful today, are you feeling better?

    GRRRRR!!!!!! Can i scream please?

I've had quite a productive day - tree down and away...helped littley with quite a lot of fRench and am semi sorted for tomorrow - bin out, charity bag ready to go etc.

DD1 has enjoyed Christmas - her best mate has been round a bit whilst back from Uni - and should have been around for another week...but has this weekend had a huge row with her mum and has taken herself off back to uni today - to Brighton - which is a b****y long way from York! So DD1 is really upset.....

Said friend had volunteered to drive DD1 to the hospital on Friday.....just when I thought my luck was changing.....

lazm hope you are feeling a bit bettere by now - have you bveen cracking the whip on the slaves:rotfl:
embb thats a great deal on the freezer - you can get a dongle for DD that you do as pay as you go or contract and she would then be able to use it anywhere or if you have a wireless router she could be added to your network and save another internet broadband payment.
G&B goodness is it that long since she had her last op - where has the time gone - when is it scheduled for - what a brave wee girl she is
belated Happy Birthday to LO xx

ajmoney hope they get the roads cleared around soon - its dreadful when peole outstay their welcome - worse when its family I think
vanilla (((hugs))) its very easy to get into debt at this time of the year honey but you are doing the right thing and dealig with it before it gets out of hand. Could you try to put something away for this coming Christmas evry week - even if just a few pounds it might help - or your loose change at the end of the week - yes it takes discipline to stick to budgets, meal plans etc but the rewards are worth it - I know you can do it (((hugs)))
Jo sorry honey for your bad night and start to the day but the vision of you, thousands of carrier bags and mice scurrying about in the cupboard while you flung things out had me giggling:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Courgette well done with the first week's lists - unfortunately you have to complete a whole list - levels 1, 2 and 3 to get a star!
WTG MOAM:T:T - I never thought of looking for shoe box stuff just now!DOH!!!!!!
Dorastar hope you new job goes well tomorrow - the best of luck although you obviously dont need it or you wouldnt have got the job:D
That's why I've not been on so far today, I need to spend more time actually flying and less time on the flylady thread :rotfl:
I think we are all in the same position sweetie - I know i am - i am trying to find a balance.

see you on the new thread
    toots xx

    Tsk Tsk :naughty:
Thats not really the best attitude, now is it ? :p
But then again, it is Sunday night, and we are all waiting to be keen and eager on the new thread eh ??;)

Well, I haven't done any flying today, (except put a washing in) because I have been working... early shift really makes me sooooo tired, and if I dont go to the gym straight after work, I HAVE to have a power snooze :o, and no flying gets done:o My gym has been shut over xmas and new year ;)

    But enough of that...
I did go shopping for my parents... and I am about to go into the kitchen and do some batch cooking for them. There doesn't appear to be anything on the telly, so I think I will put on my Audiobook :D:T

See you all on the new thread

    evening all

had an 'interesting' day - including a long wait on the phone and then pointless hour plus long round trip to the station to try and sort out DH's travelcard which the idiot at the station messed up yesterday

Not a lot of flying done but it will all be ok til it comes round again! Rolls defrosting for dh's lunch and my quinoa is cooked for a salad for mine. I wanted to take some of the yummy spiced carrot and parsnip soup I made today but I can't find a suitable container that won't leak

We had a chinese for dinner so the lasagne is left for tomorrow - nice and easy - and I think we may have a final blow out bottle of wine tonight and watch an old Morse!

Off to see if I can catch up...
