juliejim hope you get the boiler sorrted soon & it doesn't hinder your DDs birthday x
tooch sounds like you had a good time, I might see if there is one of those vouchers still valid on Monday for DS1s
smartie good luck to him, well done to him too for getting of his butt & finding work (sorry I missed that before)
Poppytime pleased it went ok, things like that are never easy/sorted in one meet up
poohbear pleased everyone is doing their bit, I can understand the emotional bit as it's always worse when you 'can't' go out than when you just don't want to. My friend near penrith has frozen milk & put it in the snow to save it for if she gets stuck without as she has a small freezer which I thought was a fab idea.
ajmoney they haven't even done all those here & we've had no bins collected for 2 weeks...I am a little 'peeved'
nicki we always avoid dairy after bugs, anything else goes lol
Valli yes tin it, see how much you are saving :)

Oh Blackberry owners on here, mine has a yellow globe on the screen with a 1 next to it, any ideas what it means?

DP went to work so ended up with spag bol, probably better for me as I use way too much cheese in lasagne, got DS1 to eat it too :D that's 2 'new things' in a day but I did have to pick the mushooms out for him.

I best go feed/mist the lizards & get the DW refilled, HHC 7.30pm for me

I had a code sent to me today for 50 % off when you spend over £30...I can send it to you if you PM me your email address xx

Yes but it's a new one and he didn't give me the number before he went out. He also has the back door and garage key with him I hope. Cos I can't find them anywhere either.

Oh... I've bought some new calendars... one to arrange my social life on (Froddy... we need to work out when we're going to do all these walks... we'd better book one in for Jan otherwise we'll never get going!)

I'm on it - I'll check when I'm free and post in on the FB group

I've done some washing, and all decorations and cards are down. Just need to bubblewrap the Nativity characters.

Done nothing else and am in a 'I don't really care' mood  :o I don't like New Years

    I have a severe tupperware compulsion :(
This link, is almost like !!!!!! to me:o :p
Good job, I am too young to have been a part of the mass tupperware parties of the 70's ;) Only just mind :p:D

Again, no flying really for me today...
A quick S&S in the kitchen, LR and bathroom.
But everywhere does look very clean and tidy :D
I might get some of my own list crossed off, when I finish work tomorrow.:D

I'm intrigued about putting work, exercise and a meal plan on the same calendar. Havent ever thought about it. Have only ever put a meal plan together. Maybe I need to schedule exercise as well ;)

My plastic boxes are recycled from the chinese when we get a takeaway. Is that really bad for us? I very rarely buy boxes. What will you do with your millions of boxes?
The calendar thing is a new idea... I don't usually meal plan, so I thought it might help. And I need to get a clearer idea of my exercise and how it's working... and in order to manage both I need to know where I am for work (home, office, travelling).

BPA is bisphenol-A which is a hormone disrupter. There's loads of stuff on the web about it, so i'll leave you to do your own search as some sites are more sensible than others . As for my millions of boxes... well the reason I have so many is because I feel guilty throwing them out. However, I do try not to refrigerate or freeze in plastic (at least, not with the plastic touching the food) and I NEVER EVER microwave or cook in plastics. Some of them do reach the end of their natural lives, so I will gradually replace... we need more councils to start putting recycling in place, and then recyclers might start investing in technology in the UK.

One good thing about having so many ethical objections to things is that I genuinely do avoid a lot of things... I felt very guilty about needing two carrier bags today :o even though they'll be used for rubbish that can't go straight into the bin (chicken carcass for example). I don't impulse buy cosmetics because I have to read the ingredients (check out your toothpaste if you want to see something scary!), I check where all my fruit & veg has come from, I buy fairtrade & organic where possible. And quite often I simply look at something I'm interested in and can't bring myself to make the ethical compromise needed to buy it... so I walk away. Saves me a fortune... :D

Chicken is cooking nicely in the SC... lentil soup is on the hob (it's a quick one with puy lentils - using the liquid from soaking dried porcini yesterday). Remains of last nights chicken and mushroom has been eaten with pasta (I feel bloated now... must stop eating pasta).

    Off to be lazy again...

Shopping all put away and fridge cleaned and old stuff decluttered first.

Made corned beef hash for the first ever time :p Noone likes corned beef apart from DH who likes it in sandwiches and I had an unopened pack that needed eating as it was 2 weeks out of date so I thought well better give it a go. We all ate it (apart from DH who has gone to work again ) and noone complained so might even do it again.

Have grated all the cheese that I can to freeze. I have some nice stuff with chilli in which I thought I would freeze until I need to make a white sauce but I need to know what can I do with a piece of stilton with apricots and a piece of wensleydale with cranberries as I can see they wont be eaten just as cheese. Any ideas please.

Then there is just tiny bit of salad needs eating, oh and some dips.

Tea things cleared away and DW on.

Head is loads better now but nose is streaming (sorry TMI :rotfl:) so I thought I'd update all my spends on Quicken. Unfortunately DH hadnt uploaded his latest update from his laptop so I cant do mine until he's done that

Think I might update freezer list and do some serious meal planning as I must stop buying so much food to stash in the cupboards and freezers.

nicki - hugs hope DD isnt sick again
juliejim - hope you can get the boiler fixed quickly
lilme - DS made it back in time for tea, apparently there were 15 extra bods there to play with pellet guns in the snow
ajmoney - I'm in a town and we havent seen gritters once since the snow started before xmas
    shazba - welcome back
toots - glad you had a safe trip in and out of town
pigpen - we still have trees up although I told the kids they can help me get them down tomorrow

    Think thats it for now
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

    Evening all....

Hope everyone is well? Only got a few minutes so haven't looked through the thread in any great detail...so I'm sending hugs - in particular to Pigpen and lady-liberty - but also to anyone who needs one.

Well, we had an interesting kind of a day today...overslept, then had to get the tribe out of the house for DD's friends birthday party at 11am. Not a problem, surely, I hear you cry, but this friend lives 40 miles to the west of us........so we had about 50 minutes to get up and out.

Anyway, DD had a good time and it was good to catch up with people we hadn't seen for 6 months....

Have managed to do a couple of things from the lists....

Wednesday ~ Master Bedroom and Landing DONE

Thursday ~ Childrens rooms and the bathroom!
    Level One..
[STRIKE]Childrens jobs: Collect ALL the dirty laundry from your bedroom and put it in the wash basket![/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Parent jobs (includes daddy too!): Clear and mop the bathroom floor[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Throw away all the empties and put the new toiletries in the bathroom in the correct places![/STRIKE]
    Level Two
Childrens jobs: fill a binbag with rubbish, or stuff that is no longer used for charity shop/bin
Parents jobs: Clean the loo and the bath and the shower and the basins and the bidet and the tiles!
[STRIKE]Wash any shower curtains/bath mats that are in need[/STRIKE]
    shine the taps!
    Level Three
[STRIKE]Childrens jobs: Vacuum the floor and take down to the kitchen and dirty cups/pots/beakers[/STRIKE] I did this - DD too little to wield a Dyson (plus she had a mega tantrum when I suggested she might want to sort her room out....)
[STRIKE]Parents jobs: Inspect the childrens rooms and help them make room for their new stuff if they are not old enough to do this themselves! If it looks good then they are permitted a reward for their hard work.. :p[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Empty bins etc from upstairs[/STRIKE]
    Strip and wash childrens bedding

OPTIONAL LIST FOR THE MASOCHISTS AMONG US!
    1. Tidy a cupboard or 10 of your choosing!
    2. [STRIKE]Change any unclean beds[/STRIKE]
    3. Run appliances through a clean cycle.. degunk filters etc too
    4. Budget and meal plan for next month.. most of us will be a little strapped for cash. Not done this yet. I am the queen of the procrastinators on this one...tomorrow, promise.
    5. [STRIKE]Clean pets out.. and their beds and bowls![/STRIKE] This has been delegated to OH - it's his job to clean out the budgie.
    6. Wash any grotty windows so you can see out.. and light can get in!
    7. [STRIKE]Binbag dance[/STRIKE]
    8. [STRIKE]Make sure homework/uniforms etc are ready for school/work next week[/STRIKE]
    9. S&S kitchen Nope. Still a tip.
    10. [STRIKE]Vacuum a neglected floor![/STRIKE]
    11. List 5 things on ebay/freecycle/amazon.. wherever
    12. [STRIKE]15 minutes filing/shredding[/STRIKE]
    13. [STRIKE]Call a friend/relative you've not seen in a while[/STRIKE]
    14. [STRIKE]HHC-doing something[/STRIKE] Did the mountain of ironing. (I like ironing...would be happy to swap with someone who likes cleaning bathrooms....)
    15. [STRIKE]Empty out yours handbag of receipts etc[/STRIKE] Bought myself a new handbag, so receipts sorted. Along with non-functioning pens, fluffy sweets, a set of babies reins, assorted crumbs, dead raisins...you get the picture!
I'm off now to straighten the living room and then watch Casualty. Perhaps wine will feature again tonight, although I think I might be on my own as OH is working this evening...he's got a project to complete by 5 Jan...

    Have a good evening...
    Take care
