  • greenbee What I do with "found" money iyswim is I split it in half and on ehalf is used for savings or essential things like a car repair and the other half is split in half again and one half of this (i.e. 1/4 of original exceess) is used on "things" and the other on experiences.
If you particularly like gardens etc, things could be plants normally too expensive to buy or a bird table and the experience part used for an outing to visit a gardens or sommat iyswim.

Does this seem really anal? :D:rolleyes:

Dusty hope your fingers heal soon

Fedupandskint - hugs about the damp..... if it was coming from below, I'd diagnose rising damp.As it seems to be coming from above, have you looked in the loft to see if there's a gap or something in the roof which is letting water in? Failing that, do you have any insurance you can call on?

Have decluttered a couple of gins at NN and chewed the fat. And got myself another job on the process. Her cleaner is leaving her next week (she has been offered more hours at her permanent job) so I've volunteered to take her place.

2 hours, once a fortnight cash in hand. Hey, it all helps as the wage I'm getting at the moment is v. small. And we are both astute enough and know each other well enough to be able to distinguish between the friendship bit and the employer bit. My flylady skills will come in handy!

I also heard of another part time but v. interesting job yesterday that may possibly be coming up. It's one I'd love to do. So maybe that's what my 2010 is going to be about - income from different streams rather than one main one. I don't think I've ever mentioned that I've passed a preliminary interview about six weeks ago to work for NatCen as a freelance interviewer and am going on a training course at the end of Jan.

But I'm rambling and I've just discovered there's the original Italian Job on the TV so I shall enjoy that!

Well, I decided not to doctor today's list and work through it as it appeared, and after some early hesitation, I am glad that I did!

Do we get stars for today? If so, please can I have one toots? That would be the first time I will have managed full lists on all five days, so I am feeling very pleased with myself!

I'm now going to declutter my address book by transferring anything current from my old one to a new one I was given for Christmas (last year :o), and sit down with a well earned G&T.

Have a good evening everyone, and thank you for providing me with the means for a positive start to 2010 :T

fedup do you own your house or rent, if you rent I'd say call LL/housing association if not think I'd get it looked at.

Own it - so is my responsibility - however the survey that cost a load missed out a couple of things and the surveyor refused to budge on it

Hey ho will have a look to see how to sort it

Soappie - welcome to the world of 'Portfolio Working'. It is 'offically' what I do, and is the best way to describe one part time job and two self employed ones that can include interim cover.
careful - makes sense to me. On the increasingly rare times when we gain extra cash we each take 10% as a fritter to be spent on exactly what each of us wants with no criticism. Works for us.

Boys beds have been made, and filled with small persons. I am off to soak in the bath with a book and a cup of tea after 30 mins on the exercise bike. Anyone else for a HHE? My shuffle is charged and ready, and I have run out of excuses for procrastination. oooh, shiney.......

Better have a venture into the loft and see because it is from the ceiling down

Good luck with your new jobs Soappie - all the best in this regard - I don't think I would mind cleaning now for a few hours a week and take pride in how it looked and how much easier and better it got each week and cleaner and shinier :D

Why am I not surprised there is a name to cover the situation? Thank you! I shall remember to use it!

L-L - huge hugs love. You're going through a very difficult time at the moment. I hope things get easier for you.
