Muffin tins I would say would be the best bet there. I got a heavy one which is good from TKMaxx. I also have silicone ones I got from Argos and Tesco. I think Tesco and Asda also sell the metal ones aswell as many other places.

Make fab yorkshire puddings in them aswell :D
One day I might be more organised...........

don't know where particularly you'd get them - but would they be described as muffin tins - they have pretty steep sides rather than the 'jam tart' type shape?
  • The ones in the book are def smaller than muffin tins - as they have muffins too.

I bought some lovely new silicone muffin tins from Poundstretcher (bargain price!) and they are def too big

  • I will have a look in TKMax as they often have some odd things - good thinking

  • here are a few pictures:

these ones are all different sizes - although I guess the tini ones are mini muffins

I got mine in IKEA a couple of years ago - it's smaller than a muffin tin but deeper than a bun tray - I can use both sets of cases in it and they work fine. It was fairly cheap and I haven't destroyed it yet, which has to be a good thing.

  • Thank you - I have one in Milton Keynes - so will have to take a trip over there - brilliant.

I make cakes for our Country Market (aka WI Stall) stall in Ampthill and fancied having a go at something that looked a little bit different. Although different doesn't always sell!

Lakeland sell a "deep bun tin" as well as the normal shallow fairy cake type tin. Maybe this would be suitable for you?

This page has them both on http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!10940_10949

I'm wondering if it's not so much the tins, but the cases? I've only got a 'bun' tin atm (the joys of living out of boxes lol) but I make muffins in it using muffin cases. Cupcake cases are different again - taller and narrower at the top than muffin cases, and much bigger than bun cases - they're hard to find in the shops too. What I mean is, rather than spending money on tins, first have a go at using the tins you've got but with the 'right' cases. Might save you some money lol :)
  • That deep bun tin looks like the right thing in Lakeland - although more than I want to pay, especially with shipping. But if all else fails I will get that one

I have looked for some different cases - but have failed at that too, only really posh ones from Australia. But will have another search around.

Thank you everyone - you have are a great help
