Given up on the tidying and made a turkey sandwich and poured a glass of wine. I found the kitchen worksurfaces again which was quite a triumph really.:D
Going to watch Strictly I recorded and resume the assault tomorrow. I deserve a rest.0 -
just done the ironing, only a few bits but at least all done.
I have decided I definitely want to see this car
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/200950348296024/sort/priceasc/usedcars/make/volkswagen/model/polo/price-to/3000/price-from/2000/radius/10/postcode/bh11aa/page/1/quicksearch/true?previous=%2Fsearch%2Fresults%2Fusedcars%2Fpostcode%2Fbh11aa%2Fradius%2F10%2Fmake%2Fvolkswagen%2Fmodel%2Fpolo%2Fprice-to%2F3000%2Fprice-from%2F2000%2Fsort%2Fpriceasc%2Fpage%2F1%2Fquicksearch%2Ftrue&logcode=p
After seeing the manual Polo yesterday and being surprised how much bigger it was than I expected, I keep looking at this one. Over my budget but if it was the one I wanted I would try to get it down to 2k, pay for it with my LoB card I have which is 6% then use whatever I get from the insurance company (1k would be good, doubt it though  ) and then look to clear the rest by doing AQA at weekends, which I was going to do to get my savings back up. Perhaps set myself a 6 month target to clear whatever was left over.
Does anyone know - how many years will I lose off my no claims? Is it 2??
Also - do I have the excess deducted from the payout - even though it's a no fault claim?
EDIT: looks like I do lose the excess from my claim unless I can get it back. Sigh, this is from my insurance FAQ. I don't have the legal protection bit.
"If the accident is not your fault it may be possible to recover this excess from the third party, our legal protection policy, if purchased, is designed to help you with this. "
Seriously - is there any point in being insured against someone writing your car off if it's over a certain age?! I had a lovely car and probably will only get a few hundred back.

BB that car looks perfect and polos are fantastic cars and like you say far more spacious than you think. If it were just me driving it I would get a polo or something like a 206 but there is no chance OH will get in and be able to drive safely in something that small.
Insurance is just a pain in the bum tbh, OH still hasn't got a penny back for his accident in March *sigh*
Bunny why don't you set yourself small goals, so there is 47 days (7 weeks) you CAN loose 2 lbs per week if you want to. I would say this coming week you should aim for 3 pounds (always more in the first week).
There is so much tempting food in this house atm...its driving me insane, back for weigh in on wednesday and I am determined not to have put any weight on since last weigh in 2 weeks ago lol...who am I trying to kid!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I drove a Polo when I worked in Ireland 10 years ago. The company gave me it from brand new instead of taking my company car over from the UK, but it was only the base 1 litre model, it was great though and this is a 1.4 with power steering (the one I had before didn't have!)
Part of the reason I've shyed away from small cars is that I think I'd be too fat for one
but I was really surprised how big the one I saw yesterday way.
I've just done a quote with Hastings for it and I can get insurance for £200 a year with £250 excess if I drop to 3 years no claims from 5. That's only £23 a year more than I am paying for my Honda so not a big difference if I stayed with Hastings. And of course, there's Quidco on top
Not sure if you saw my FB message - I looked up that car on autotrader and the garage is a small one (if it's the one I think it is) so I doubt it will be open - just to save you a journey.
Blimey - he's not had any money? Not even the normal payout? God, I could be driving this hire car for months at that rate !!!

ooooooh, that is a shame that it's gone

Exeter....that's a haul of a drive. I might go out tomorrow and have a pootle round some of the local garages. Obviously not more than a couple of miles in any direction though with my stupid driving 'thing'
I'd need OH to drive me to the Polo as it's on the edge of Poole (up near Moors Valley Park) but too far for me to drive......god knows how I'd get it back to Poole
