Call NHS direct for medical advice. In accordance with forum rules this isn't medical advice! Just don't run a cool bath for her as this is really not the best way to quickly cool a baby as they can quickly get too cold:eek:

Saying that, if you can take off a blanket from her bed this may help to cool her down or change her nappy and let her sleep for a little while in just her nappy. lots of layers are better as you can remove these as and when to maintain an optimal temperature.

My nephew was rushed to hospital when he was 13 months old for a high temperature and febrile convulsion. In the time it took to get from front door to car, then car to hospital entrance his temperature had come down a LOT! The doctors say this is really common BUT they'd rather see a million children who have had high temperatures that resolve before getting to A&E than miss one for the parents thinking "let's wait and see"!

Cuddles are the bestest medicine ever! good luck.x

  • I'm in bed with a hot water bottle and brandy.
This is really exciting as I've slept on the floor the past 2 nights.

Waiting for a callback from NHS direct, thank you :)

I've turned the heating off in my room, left her in her vest with no blanket. Unless window is open (its not), room wont go too cold if heating is left off all night, no matter how much snow is outside! :(

DD is 11 months and her temperature peaked to 39.4, gone down to 38.8 now, and monitoring it very closely. Decided I'm going to the hospital if it peaks at or above 40 degrees. I know she's teething and thats probably whyats causing it, but like you said, the wait and see attitude doesnt always pay off.
