I got these ones from ebay, I think they're a bit too big though. I think maybe the 4.5" would be better.

Also I got the small cellophane bags (from the same seller) and they were far too small, would need either the medium or large.

    Love your cupcakes Esmer xx

    Thanks.

Are you using candymelts to coat yours? Did you take photos?

Also do you all use styrofoam? or something to hold them up whilst the coating dries?

I want to try them, but you know what is going to kill me, is baking a cake and then breaking it up ;-)

Did you make buttercream in the same quantity as for a batch of cupcakes?

    Thanks............ Questions to all :)

  • Wow they are fab!
Where do you buy the sticks please?
    Are they expensive?
    Thanks.

Hi Clutterfree :) I get sticks from Cakes Cookies and Crafts, not exactly cheap, but at least I can normally get all the stuff I need in one hit rather than have to pay several delivery charges, and their service is always great.

Esmer I don't really have quantities / a ratio for cake and buttercream for Cake Pops, I just sort of add it in until it looks right, iyswim, but they need to be fairly firm balls, and it helps loads to stick them in the freezer for a bit before you dip them, and yes, once dipped I stick them in styrofoam or oasis covered in foil to dry.

Love your swirls in the pic btw, did you use a 1M or something else?

Are you using candymelts to coat yours? Did you take photos? Used chocolate, never used candy melts, what are they like? I took photos, will post them tomorrow.

Also do you all use styrofoam? or something to hold them up whilst the coating dries? I stuck them in a polystyrene block I had from a parcel but because the holes went right through, they tipped over a bit, I need to get something better.

I'm not sure how much buttercream I used, I had some left from the cupcakes and cake I had made, I think it's probably trial and error to see how much we need. I'm going to try them again soon so will let you know.

This is what i've got to bake/decorate/deliver between tomorrow and Monday!! STRESSED is not the word!! I haven't ever done this much in one go! Arghh!!

    A football pitch cake
30 cupcakes (for the same party)
    a diver, beach themed cake
24 breast cancer care themed cupcakes
    12 kiddie cupcakes
    24 "green" cupcakes

Oooh almost forgot (how could I??!) that one of the cafes I went to rang me back to say they would put a box of my cupcakes in their display (and one in their new shop when it opens) and then people would order them through the cafe, I would just deliver them to the cafe the next day. Also they will put a porfolio on the side for people to look at, recommend me to anybody that holds a wedding/event in their hall (it's a community cafe in a big lovely building) and they will get cupcakes from me for any events they are holding, they've ordered 36 for Monday :D They're going to try and think of other ways to advertise me too. I am so happy! :j
