how do you make them?***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
Basically you mix cake and butter cream into little balls, stick 'em in the freezer for a little bit and dip them in melted chocolate or candy melts, sprinkles, glitter, let your imagination run wild
This is the cake recipe I usually use, but be warned it makes MASSES!!! And then I break chunks off and squidge it together with whatever buttercream I happen to have lurking around until it looks the right consistency, sort of like truffles, but it's a lot of trial and error...
Have a look at Bakerella's site, as Esmer's said it really is fantastic, and she's just brought a book out too, it's about £16 I think, but £8 on Amazon :T0 -

@ karenccs67 I found a Video on the Martha Stewart site of her making them, once you see how its done, it makes sense.
@ Moominmamma your popcakes look great. What do you mix with yours......... a lot of it is americanised, and not sure where she gets her coloured chocolate from........ She has a book out, its on amazon. I seen a video on amazon as well.
Sainsburys are now doing a few cupcake bits and pieces, cupcake box that holds 4, and they are only 1.79for a pack of 2, compared to hobbycrafts 7.99!!!

Funny cake pops should come up, I made some yesterday for the first time. They taste really nice (apparantly, I have a really sore mouth so can't eat things like that at the mo!) but my mum and OH loved them. I'll post some pics up later.
To anybody that hasn't made them, be warned they use a lot of chocolate, or mine did anyway. I used 200g of very good quality chocolate on 6! My mum thought the chocolate was a bit sickly and thought it might be better with cadburys or something so will try that next time. Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Esmer I just mix cake with buttercream, it needs to be quite stiff though so the balls don't fall apart when you dip them!
There's a really good video on You Tube of the dipping process, give me a little while and I'll try and find it...
I use Candy Melts to dip the balls in, but find the resulting gloop a bit thick so normally melt a little bit of Trex in with them. They're pretty expensive, but a pack coats loads of Cake Pops, you can get them here
I have ordered the book, not received it yet but had a quick flick through in SmithsLooks great, the only downside I can see is that lots of the decorations use American sweets, so might need to improvise a bit!!

Cake pop dipping fun :j
Esmer - they don't have to be too sweet, once you know the consistency you're aiming for you can pretty much just mush up your regular cake / icing mixture so they'll obviously only be as sweet as that.
You've definately gotta give them a go, one mum whose little boy's party I made them for declared them the nicest thing she'd ever tasted!! Apparently the kids and parents were fighting for them:rotfl:
Can't wait to see your pics Hayley - my name's Moominmamma and I'm a Cake Pop addict0
