I want to bake several types of cupcakes (vanilla, choc, lemon etc)
I have one mixer.... so I have read that once liquid is added to the dry ingredients the chemical reaction starts.... so i shouldnt leave the batter to sit??? is this correct.
The oven has two shelves but I would have to let one batter sit while i mixed the 2nd batch then prep into cases and into oven. So how can i bake several different types of cupcakes effectively?
Ps. I read along regularly in awe!
Its fine to leave it until you have a cupcake pan free either in the fridge, or on the worktop. The magic works when the batter hits the oven at the right temperature, thats why you cant open the oven too soon after the cakes going in. HTHquick question from me too.. (avid reader of this thread) i'm making a cake for a 3rd birthday and wanted to cover it with with regalice...problem is i need it green!!
Whats the best way to turn 1.5kg of white regalice green? Or would i be better painting it? if so..what should i use to paint it? its going to be a stacked cake so lots of surface..
I would buy it green.......... if not get the sugarpaste colouring, nylon gloves, and work a LOT of green into a small bit of the sugarpaste and then add that to more of the white. If I want a lot of it coloured I just buy it in the colour im after.

Karen,
I had to make "pink" velvet cupcakes for a friends party and just used about 1/4 teaspoon of sugarflair pink paste, as I already had that, it worked really well. I googled several red velvet recipes and took my instructions from one that used paste colours.

I found that using the supermarket Dr Outeker much better than the sugarpaste colours, cause you need a lot of it. I suppose tesco or asda own make would suffice.Saving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -

I emailed Dr Oetker UK and they have told me that the red used for red velvet cakes has been discontinued and now they have a new "natural red" which is lighter and wont give the effect wanted, goodness knows why!!! so if you see the original red, buy it up. I managed to get 5 bottles in Tesco today and they were only 52p, the new natural red is £1.05....***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
Probably eu rules! A lot of places use beetroot as the red colouring. It can work pretty well apparently (I think the hummingbird bakery does this).0

the new receipe has beetroot in it but the hummingbird bakery book suggests using Dr Oetker but it doesnt say red or natural red.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0
