Hi, I've been following the thread for a while and I am about to try and make some cash from baking! The EHO replied to a message I left for him on New years day(it was then or chicken out!) and is coming for a chat on Monday. Sounded like a nice man on the phone and was very helpful!
Any additional hints on what to expect would be great! I bake with a Aga and had read online about some councils that frowned on it - he thought that was ridiculous if they really do - phew. And we have a open fire inglenook fireplace in the kitchen which is in use all winter - i was worried that might be frowned on, but no, he said it sounds like bliss cooking in my kitchen! Fab! So excited.
  • hi please may i ask a question, do you need a proper double sink to be able to cook from home and sell? i have a sink with one of those 1/2 draining sink thingys, thankyou.
One day I will live in a cabin in the woods

Re- the sink issue! I have just emailed a old friend who has been selling cakes for a while and its seems she's only in the process of getting the EHO sign off now. She has been told she must install a 2nd basin for handwashing.
This is really dissapointing for me. There is no where in our kitchen I could put one. I have a belfast sink at the moment and we are renting so can't really alter much. Even if i could change things around I would have to chop up Italian marble worktops and custom made solid oak cabinets - it would be criminal!

  • Well just got back from my first cake decorating and sugarcraft class. Not for me I think, I was losing the will to live about half way through:wall: There was a couple of people on the other side of the classroom who were doing the next level, sugar flowers etc and all I wanted to do was go over and have a go! We were getting taught how to do basic piping which I found soooooooo boring. We have to take a sponge cake in next week to decorate but I don't know if I want to go back:undecided
