No young children in the house but I do have a couple of young nieces and a nephew. I have made some bracelets this year and was going to give them in organza gift bags but could use the stockings for the girls. Could maybe find some little marvel heros or ben 10 bits for my nephew. Thanks for the inspiration Carlamarie:D

has anyone seen some cheap cocktail shakers anywhere? I've got this recipe book from halfcost and some flavoured lip glosses from direct cosmetics already and would like a shaker to go with them, but it's not the end of the world if I can't get any. I've looked in supermarkets, poundshops and places like B&M but they've either had none or been too dear!

  • Well had to nip into town tonight to pick up a gift bag and ended up buying a couple of extra gifts for my nieces. Mental note to self. Must stop shopping.

wendy: im just the same, especially with ds i have had to say to myself no more now, as every year he has loads as my mum always spends lots and have big family so know he is always going to get lots of toys. have actually sorted his toys out this morning got a bag full now of things to take to the charity shop.
my mum is just about done just need a desk calendar for her for work. mainly my dad and brother left now, finally made a start on best friends and picked up some good bargains last weekend for her. cant believe its only 40 days until christmas getting excited now!! i love christmas, im like a big kid on christmas day, always the first up, i was up before ds last year and as its just me and him now we stayed at my parents, still get a stocking and the joy of waking up at 4 in the morning to a stocking, i thought i would have grown out of it all by now.
  • Hi everyone! :)
I've had a busy-ish morning so far, wrapping presents and getting other bits and pieces up together. Really want to get my snowman soup out of the way. Still too early?

I bought one of those advent calanders from Lidl last week, it has 24 numbered stockings. ACtually much bigger than I expected and I really dont know what to put in it. DH suggested putting a pressie for each of us in ever one (typical big kid!) Sounds like a nice idea but dont know what to get that would be affordable. Any ideas? LO is only 1.
  • I'm quite new to this site and simply love this thread!

In Jan I spent my £70 advantage card points in the half price sale and bought a stack of gifts for this Christmas. I stuck them in an airtight box in the loft, which I got down this morning and so far have ticked off quite a few people from my list!. I have photo albums, picture frames, a leather wallet, slippers, cosy socks, umbrella set and a load of bath and cosmetics sets. I was told the bath sets would keep for a year if left unopened, however some of the nail varnish sets have gone a bit funny, so may have to bin them? - has anyone else had this problem or know if the smellies will be okay?

I also have to buy for my partners aunties and uncles (5 sets). I usually try to buy family presents rather than individual gifts, but tins of biscuits and wine is becoming a bit boring, so I was thinking about making some home made chutney and jams? Does anyone have any good ideas for family presents?
