How about a game instead of biscuits for families - depends on ages but I know my kids love to play a game with us. Mine have asked for 2 games and we have bought them disney scene it (you play on a board using a dvd as prompts for questions) And hubby has asked for monopoly for the ps3 so we will be playing that too!
I love Christmas too - but never get any surprises!!!Donna
Economy; careful management; providence. Whether you call it thrifty or frugality it all comes down to getting more for your money.0 -

I stuck them in an airtight box in the loft, which I got down this morning and so far have ticked off quite a few people from my list!. I have photo albums, picture frames, a leather wallet, slippers, cosy socks, umbrella set and a load of bath and cosmetics sets. I was told the bath sets would keep for a year if left unopened, however some of the nail varnish sets have gone a bit funny, so may have to bin them? - has anyone else had this problem or know if the smellies will be okay?0

has anyone seen some cheap cocktail shakers anywhere? I've got this recipe book from halfcost and some flavoured lip glosses from direct cosmetics already and would like a shaker to go with them, but it's not the end of the world if I can't get any. I've looked in supermarkets, poundshops and places like B&M but they've either had none or been too dear!
I can't believe your poundshop doesn't have any  mine had plastic ones with fake ice cubes etc in them. Then I saw on saturday they had some shiny metal ones, which were empty.
I just suggest you keep checking they're bound to get them in0 -
Well I did think i was organised but realised I forgot to buy my boss's Christmas present. We all chip in and buy her something as she buys us a lovely present each year. Anyway her husband who also works with us chose a present for us and when i was in poundland I found a book on some guy called Brian from the Archers. She listens to this all the time so hopefully she will love it. If not it was only a pound lol. Anyway I have now wrapped them up and ready to take back in so we can hide till nearer the time.
I may make a start on wrapping this week. I have a few days off so may use this time wisely.0 -
I've just ordered the last Christmas present that I needed to get! Yikes! Thats it! No stocking fillers, no little extras. Every one is done! All 32 recipients have gifts... PHEW!!
Now I need to get a table cloth and napkins and then I've bought everything for our first proper christmas in our own home as a familySO excited!
Lots of snowman soup to make up, hampers to put together and little presents to wrap but I'm happy with how I've got on so far.
I've just ordered 2 make your own gingerbread house kits from matalan. Hope they're okay, the website didnt give much info but they were reduced to £2.40 + I got quidco & 15% discount code. Will be making one up for us and one for my mum & her little ones
So left to do:
20 snowman soup
2 door hangers to paint
2 santa keys to paint
2 HM cookie "tree" thingys to mke and assemble Xmas week
cake to decorate
10x gingerbread men to make
chocolate truffles to make son & freeze!
Mars vodka to make for a little pressie
presents & hampers to wrap
So there we go! Going to be a hectic Xmas week - especially as I'll be 36 weeks pregnant by then! heehee0 -
this thread has gone quiet again!
i got fil sorted yesterday. a pigeon book he asked for (7.50), a combustion engine making set (15) and just waiting for a box of liqourice (£13) to arrive which he loves but cant always find, its a box of 100 so should do him a while!
had budgeted £40-£50 and spent £35.50 so doing well there. may get him a old spice gift set ive seen which is £4 as an extra present.
mil, again has the same budget of £40-£50 and she has asked for two books which i found on whsmiths for £4.61 each. ordered them and they emailed me straight away to say they were out of stock  and i cant find them anywhere else!!!!
so i need to ask her if theres anymore books hse wants. im going to get her a watch - she wears them metal elasticated ones so should be able to get her a good one for about 20quid. also going to do her a chocolate hamper the same as i did last year as she loved it. she loves milka chocolate so i filled it with two of each variety (think theres about 5-6 different ones) then added some turkish delights which she loves and as jaffa cakes are her fav biscuit i used a couple of rolls of these to boost up the choc so it was in steps. then i added a milka santa in the middle.
may also get her a bath set
m+fil exchange a tin of chocolates with her brother but they dont get presents from anyone else, they rarely buy each other gifts either so i like for them to have about 3-4 presents from us to open.
i have abudget of £30 for my mam but no ideas what to get her :mad::mad:
need to make up 3 retro sweetie jars for little bro, nephew and nieces boyfriend.
have to get a bendaroos set for my neice
then its just dh to sort out. we've budgetted £100 each this year. so far i have him a ps3 game which i managed to get for £13 instead of 40. a book about plants for his college work £3 adn he asked for another game for his ps3 but i said no because it was £40 and would eat too much of his budget. so he went on ebay and managed to get it bn and sealed for £6.50:eek:. when postman delivered it yesterday i pinched it off him and gave him the money haha! he's not happy as he wanted it now but tough!!!
im also going to get him a cd and docking station for upstairs as he likes to listen to music in the bath and he had to move his docking station downstairs as the hi-fi broke. so think he will like this. the one ive seen is £30 but i have a £5 voucher to spend in december so will be only £25
but after i buy this he still has £52.50 left to spend. not sure what im going to do with this. maybe get him some jeans as he's a little short, but if i do i would like to get him a top too so its more of an outfit rather than a practicality. but the jeans he wears are usually about £40 so im depending on a sale to be able to get him a top too.
otherwise i dont know what to get him???????Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -

wow! you'll be exhausted!!!
have you looked in morrisons for your table things? they have some nice things and reasonably priced too. its myy first time at having a dinner table for the past 4 years as we got rid of our old one because it was glass and i was expecting ds. we was going to replace it with a wooden one but the space soon got filled with the kids toys and things.
but i decided earlier on this year i was sick of living in a 'playschool' and ship a lot of stuff into the bin/bedroom/charity shop. and finally have a lovely table which i fully plan on 'over-decorating' for xmas:D:D
