Thanks for this :j. I've never been to this store but as it's not far I might give it a go tomorrow. It sounds as those things will be fabulous for Christmas shoe boxes and my daughter's party bags. Did they have much left?

Could you tell me whereabouts I will find these reduced things in the shop? As I have to drag my children to the shops to get shoes tomorrow I don't think they will want to spend too long as I try to find my way around a different Tesco store!!

    Thanks very much

As you walk in to the store walk through the centre aisle towards the back of the store. On the right hand side there are some aisles with writing/pens sets/ arts. The 10p bits are in loads of little clear boxes. The fairy bits ae down the end of one of those aisles.

If you see the blue fluffy Disney fairy pens with tinkerbell on top, they are not marked up as reduced but go through at 40p.

The Buzz Lightyear lunch bags are up stairs near the coffee shop.

They were still putting out clearance stickers when I left yesterday morning & had loads of bits left. I'm hoping to go there again tomorrow to try and finish of some stockings.

    I've been Money Tipped!
i used halfcost for the first time week before last and i was really happy with my order. theyre was one thing out of stock and they had refunded into my account without me having to querie it. theres free delivery on orders over £10 atm too.

i went to tescos to double up my vouchers yesterday onlyt had a tenner so £20 quids worth of toys i was after. but the till wouldnt accept a £5 voucher so i need to get in touch with clubcard to see why.

but i did manage to get my ds some ben10 walkie talkies which were £12.47. i used my £10 double up voucher then i had another voucher for £2.50 so they only cost me 47p. so thats another present ticked off his list.

ive decided to try and get a present a week if i can manage it. but i do have 5 family birthdays in the next couple of weeks so dont think i will be getting any for a short while. but im going to crack on with the homemade stuff i am doing.
i need some funky socks for sock monkeys, some jars for jams (hoping i can get dh to buy these for me, will have to be nice to him) and some sand so i can get started on some rocks (with hidden treasures inside)

I know the feeling lazysheep. I havent bought anything for ages and then went into B & M and picked up my younger niece loads of hello kitty bits. She will be so happy. Also when I was on holiday in Blackpool I picked up a me to you pyjama case cover. I am really stuck for my dad this year. Normally get him box sets but all of the ones we were getting him have now finished. He is also a diabetic and has copd so has no real hobbies either. We did buy him a model kit for fathers day but he hasnt built it yet. Depending on if he gets into it we may get him another but with the copd he has very shaky hands. Any ideas are welcome.

I think they only accept vouchers in multiples of ten pounds x
  • Dont' forget CAR BOOTS!!!!!

If you keep your eye out you can grab some great bargains.
Most of the time you are paying hardly anything for brand new wrapped/in boxes and look great as gifts.
I have also bought opened boxed items, emptied and popped them in baskets. I did a huge craft hamper in this way...buying bits and pieces for 50p...total costing £4.30 and had about £25 worth of craft items in including friendship bracelet kit, paint your own mug, stickers, canvas and paints, crayons, pencils, pack of balloons, puppets kit.

Just keep your mind open about what you are looking for and you'll be really surprised.
Look out for Marks and Spencers, chain stores, River Island etc etc

Over the last year I've bought:

Baskets (for hampers) at just 50p and £1
Address books with pen accessories (from Marks and Spencers)
Toiletries - in gift boxes...loads!!! at £1 and £2 and would of cost between £10-£20ea
Boxed and cellophaned brand new toys & games paying just a couple of pounds for
    Umbrella gift boxed
Purse and keyring Marks and Spencers boxed £3
    Books
    Soft Toys
    Murder Mystery Game
    Dog Racing Game
Boxed Candle Set - John Lewis
Dvds £1 and popped them in a basket for my own kids (as not new)
    Writing set
Necklaces/bracelets - then popped into little gift bags with tissue (look like new ;) )
    T shirt with label
    Door plaque
    Spice rack with spices

Most of the presents I give cost me about a quarter of what they are worth and give me a great sense of satisfication when I work out how much I have saved :)

  • Bailey's truffles.... a bit yummy!!
I remembered when I was at school, our cook taught us all how to make chocolate truffles, made with digestive biscuits, so I have searched high and low for a similar recipe and tweaked it a little, and last night made up a batch..... oh dear lord they are yummy.... now i'm not a Bailey's fan, but trust me, you have to try them:

    20 digestives, crushed
10 tablespoons dessicated coconut (I used) or ground almonds (if you don't like coconut)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (not drinking chocolate)
tin condensed milk (not the tiny tin)
3 1/2 oz melted butter (I used stork which was fine)

capful of Baileys (any variety - I used caramel creme)
    chocolate vermicelli for coating

    Petit fours cases

Mix together dry ingredients (except vermicelli).

Add condensed milk, then melted butter, then Baileys and mix well.

Form into balls & roll in vermicelli.

Place into petit fours case and onto a tray or plate and put in the fridge to set a little,
