Yep, I still don't think you'll get better than 50-50 on this.Happy chappy0

However, it does happen that someone will use the left hand lane to carry on round the roundabout.
Like I said, if someone wants to be pedantic, the arrows show straight on, whereas pulling off a roundabout is a left turn.
I notice you supplied a pic where the arrow is pointed upward rather than leftwards, that certainly brings a whole new layer of confusion. In that case the option is that you are allowed to go left and forward (continue along the rbout). Regardless of everything, whoever moves into a lane occupied by another vehicle is surely in the wrong.0 -
Yes, it's a situation where the other party clearly were a bit dim.
The lesson to learn is that other parties can be dim.
The lane markings are stupid really - it'd be better to remove them and it leave it more vague so people have to work harder.Happy chappy0 -
The arrows and markings on the road are not an instruction, they are advice.0

Can see it easier here, there are clearly lane dividers showing that the left lane leaves at that junction. The arrow is to stop folk from thinking they can execute a left turn at the off ramp the Pug is emerging from.
not sure about stopping people from executing a left turn, to be that stupid you would have to turn the car 75 degrees left.0 -
OP - ignore the trolling.
I know the junction having used it weekly for a number of years. You were in the right lane and followed the correct discipline, bar checking your mirror, though there was absolutely no reason why you should. ( You wouldn't for example look out for cars coming towards you in a one way street if you were going the right way, unless you're a troll)
The only issue here is proof. Without a 3rd party or photos from the time, you might be stuffed.0 -

Interesting, are you sure about this as I thought they were mandatory?0 -
there was absolutely no reason why you should.
Years ago I pulled onto a roundabout in the right hand lane to go straight over and pass a car in the left hand lane. I had to go round 1.5 times because the car in the left hand was actually going all the way round. No signals, not in the right lane.Happy chappy0 -
The error you're falling into is that at that junction you are on the A38. The A38 carries straight on for the arrows are pointing to the direction of the A38.0

Why would you consider he may carry straight on around the roundabout, he was in the lane to go left, thus this was an indication of his intended direction, and for him not to see the OP (as he said he indicated left) then he needs his eyes testing!0
