I've had a look at the photo now. From what I can see, all three lanes do carry on round the roundabout to the right. So it is possible for someone to use the left hand lane and carry on round the roundabout.
The crasher left his lane. It's not the responsibility of the OP to check the other person hasn't made a !!!! up in his direction, it's the car in the inside lane that should be checking it is safe to change lanes, which he obviously failed to do, or there would have been no crash.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

If people would look at the photographs supplied, they would notice a big white arrow pointing left, in the left hand lane. this means that lane is ONLY for going LEFT.
It is so basic, it is laughable that anyone could suggest otherwise.0 -

The photos don't show left turn arrows. They show straight on arrows. Exiting from a roundabout is considered to be a left turn. Therefore I wouldn't want to get involved in a legal battle as to whether they could go straight on if they wanted to.Happy chappy0 -

My original post "But if the OP had checked his blindspot, it's possible that they may have been able to take avoiding action. They shouldn't have had to, but it's better to take the action and be ok, than to exert that you are right, but end up injured."
It's quite likely that there is nothing you could have done to avoid the crash if the other person was adamant about coming in beside you. What I said was if you had noticed he was coming over, you could have taken avoiding action. But since you didn't see him, you couldn't. Doesn't absolve them of the blame since they shouldn't have changed lanes without checking there was space for them.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

That's the ideal and what you'd expect most people to do.
However, it does happen that someone will use the left hand lane to carry on round the roundabout.
My solution to such a situation is to pull away quickly so that the ditherer is behind me as quickly as possible.
Like I said, if someone wants to be pedantic, the arrows show straight on, whereas pulling off a roundabout is a left turn.Happy chappy0 -

at the next next set of light i pulled next to him and indicated left to show my intentions, it is up to him if he notices or not.
as i said we both puled away together , i checked my mirror and couldnt see him and then he hit me.
so where did you think he had gone?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Can see it easier here, there are clearly lane dividers showing that the left lane leaves at that junction. The arrow is to stop folk from thinking they can execute a left turn at the off ramp the Pug is emerging from.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.
