Bumping a bit as just got the house finished so was looking on the day2day expenses for the next year and wanted to see what to include in the car section.

True to December 2010 on a 02 Rover 45 Diesel with 0 image and 0 depreciation:

    tax disk 125
    Insurance (3rd party theft) 110
Diesel at £20 per working week 720
    Tyres (2 per year) 56
    Service (annual) 110
    MOT 55
Maintanance (it is a Rover after all) 300
AutoAid break down (this cover another car) 38
    Total 1514

    So £4.14/day

I am still comfortable with this even with close to £1.30 for a litre of diesl.

  • Has anyone driven the Toyota Prius? Is it really that economical compared to a good diesel?

I haven't worked mine out as such but in petrol alone my old car (Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Estate) was costing me £11 per day in petrol alone to get to work. Here's hoping my new Fiesta 1.4 does much better :)

£1.61 a day for Tax, Insurance, MOT. Last years prices.

Waiting for my insurance renewal. Online quotes so far are pushing that upto £2.75 a day.
Over a £1 a day increase on the insurance, No change on my part, Just them being greedy.

Going to put me in a position where i can not do without the car but cant afford it.
