How much does your car cost to run?

I've been playing around with my accounts in preparation for trying to save money next year  & I was horrified by how much it has cost me to run my 02 plate Scenic this year.
It breaks down to £6.81/day  This includes all petrol, road tax, insurance, Autoaid & maintenance. I have had to have 4 new tyres & a new set of ignition coils (again, darn Renaults ). Last year it was £4.55/day.
I will get some funds "back" from HMRC for my business mileage but I haven't yet added up my mileage.
What do you all think about the daily costs?

& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

How about depreciation?
Haven't worked mine out.0 -
Is that all!!
When I owned an Impreza for 18 months, including depreciation the car cost about £16 a day.....
Worth it though0 -

I think you're doing very well. That amounts to £211 a month for fuel, insurance, tax and maintenance.
I'd an x5 that cost £1200 a month inc finance and fuel costs.0 -
MK3 Mondeo...
Insurance £10
Tax £11 a year
MOT 30p
Servicing £12.50
Diesel £50
So..£33.80 a month to sit there doing nothing and £80 or so depending on how far I go.
My Capri was far better..worked out at £6 a week with £3 of that being road tax.0 -
Ive never worked it out!!
2003 VAUXHALL AGILA
320---INSURANCE
110----TAX
30--A WEEK PETROL= 1560 PER YEAR
SERVICE APPROX---£200
4 NEW SNOW TYRES, TRACKING ECT=£300
OIL AND ANTI FREEZE--=£30
TOTAL £2520 = £6.93 a day = £48.51 a week
Id say thats a bargain as I do around 16k miles a year, i go to work, do the school run, shopping, visit freinds/family ect I use my car everyday and would cost me more in public transport, well infact it would be impossible in public transport.
Its actually not as bad as I thought. It prob a bit cheaper than that as I dont do the school run in the holidays. I think il aim to lower my milage next year which will hopfully save on petrol cost or at least equal this year.0 -

Some people send that up in smoke (and more). You're doing well at under £10 a day to run a car. Mine costs about £12 a day, but that does include depreciation on a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Hmmm either I'm not doing too badly or I did the calculations wrong the last time I worked this out - £230 a month which is £7.67 per day - insurance is more than half of that :rotfl:
I only drive 7-8k miles a year though0 -

Just working it out for me, tax & insurance is £480/year. Maintenance was expensive this year since I needed to replace the rear springs, so that was a few hundred, and there was £300 on tyres, but that will be ok for a few years. Basic stuff (oil and filters) is about £30, so I'm guessing less than £1.50 a day excluding fuel. And veg. oil is currently 84p/litre in AsdaFight Crime : Shoot Back.
It's the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without being seduced by it.

Better figure would be how much per mile and not how much per day.
That is when it can get really scary....0
