  • BrazilianWaxBabe: I'll take all of those curly-hair styling products off your hands any time!

I still have an unused 24 fluid-ounce-sized bottle of body-lotion I bought in the US in 2003! It's in the queue but I have a fair amount to use up before I get to it plus about 15 bars of soap to use up. I think the only product I've actually bought it the last 12 months has been a face-moisturiser I bought in the pound-shop a fortnight ago.

I've just been staying at my sister's over Christmas and we did an audit of her secret toiletry-stash yesterday and she was ashamed to find that she had 8 different unused hand-lotions alone so she's resolved to wean herself off her Molton Brown addiction until the whole two carrier-bags of stuff has been used up.

    Count me in!

Fab thread. I too, love spending stupid amounts of money on toiletries i already have. I was actually making a mental list of everything I could buy at Boots but this thread has stopped me, lol

Will make an audit tomorrow x

Managed to use up (well DD did) one bath bomb tonight. DH didn't use up his shower gel so DD had her bath with chocolate and mint bath fizz and lynx shower gel. Followed by squirts of spa body spray! Thankfully she's only 8 and nobody will be sniffing her for a couple of days!
I used some more of my olay facial thing. MiL bought me 2 last year, one is a daily cleanser thing with beads or pearls and the other is a self heating exfoliator jobby. She's bought me another tube of the daily one. Unfortunately I used the daily one before work sunday night and the self heating one after work monday morning and I appear to have grazes all over my cheek. If that happens next week she'll have to have it or maybe I can get DH to rub it into my back?
Anyway, I shall report back once I have a list and computer access in the same place! Tatty Bye, Kaz.

OK, in support of multiple handcreams....but not eight stashed away...the trik is to spread them about and use them often in different places, so one by the bed, one by the bathroom sink, (and downstairs loo if you have one), one in the car, one near the front door, a small one in your handbag, one in a desk drawer at work, one discreetly in the room you wath tv in so that when you sit down you can reach for it and do your hands. :)
  • Ok I have done an inventory of what I have stashed away and put it all together in one big box. This doesn't include what I am currently using:

    Hairspray - 1 (and I don't use it)
Mousse- 1 (travel size)(don't use this either- from the days when my hair was long)
    Heat Protection spray- 3
    Smoothing serum- 3
Shampoo- 3 and 2 travel size bottles and 5 sachets
Conditioner- 3 and 1 travel size bottle
    Intense conditioner- 2

    Roll on deodrant- 1
    Body Spray - 2
    Bath bomb-1
Shower gel- 3 and 5 travel size bottles and some sachets

    Exfoliator- 1
    Eye makeup remover- 3
Soap- 5 (plus 2 soaps and 3 travel soaps which I am going to give to shoebox appeal next year)

    Handcream - 5
    Body Lotion - 4
    Body Butter - 2
    Hand scrub- 1

Plus I have realised I have 5 blushes hidden away. I also have 7 perfumes in total.

Fear not LIR, the daft bat already had two hand-creams on her bedside table and one by the kitchen sink. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she had them in her desk-drawer at work and in her hand-bag as well but I really didn't feel the need to humiliate her further than I already had. With any luck, she won't need to buy any more "essential" toiletries until this time next year. She's not particularly flush so I'm intent on turning her into an another MSE along with the rest of us.

Great idea - about time somebody turned this into a proper 'challenge'! :)

I've been working my way through my stash for ages now. A lot of it I never even bought myself: it was lovely presents. I don't know exactly how much I've got of everything, but I do know that I started off with about 8 tubes of hand cream, and have steadily worked my way down to the point where I had to buy a new one (that took about a year!). I'm curently living at home with my mum and she is a nightmare for this: she had I don't know how many body lotions etc. so I have been trying to use them up as well as it's such a waste! I've got through a Body Shop Cocoa Butter, most of the way through a large tube of Lime and Verbena body lotion from Bath & Body Works (an American company and a present from an American friend), and about half way through a big pot of Elizabeth Arden Green Tea moisturiser. It's hard work, all this using up of things!

Also, they do last quite a while they DO go off, so it's a real waste of cash (v. un-:money:). I had to throw a watermelon body butter (not mine!) out a couple of weeks ago as it was beyond saving. Now, I bought that on my mum's behalf in the sales about two years ago, but it's still £5 wasted. And they take up a load of room.

And don't get me started on how many bottles of perfume I have...

I used some fancy body lotion this morning, even though I had to wait 10 mins to get dressed afterwards (this is the reason I hardly use body lotion, even though I love it!!!) and it felt lovely.

I also resisted the urge to start on my new S&G stash as I have to use up the stuff that's already opened first! I am determined not to waste stuff. :rotfl:

    Do you wear make up?

My rush routine in the morning is shower, hair products (curly hair waits for noone!) faial moisturiser, body moisturiser and deoderant then, make up, perfume then clothes. :) By the time face is done body is ready to clothe!;)

I agree I am not a lover of body lotion/hand cream because it is too greasy and waiting for it to dry in a morning makes me cold!!!
