Hi All, To make sure that all my ermm less valued toiletries get used up I am making a dint in those first. I can easily use my S&G and Lush stuff cos I love it, but it's the partially used Dove bodywashes (I hate the smell of Dove!
) and random shower gels that will be more of challenge.
So.... I have decided that all week I will use up the bits of dross that I hate, and then once a week I will have a long soak and a pamper with all my preferred lotions and potions.
I also found an unopened box in my cupboard under the stairs this morning which is a Body Shop online delivery and contains 3 Coconut body washes, and 3 coconut bath bombs.
I am sort of pleased because I love these, but gutted because it's yet more to use. (I can't ebay them because this is my favourite range of all)Aims for 2014
Drink a glass of water a day, Empty handbag at least once a week, Continue "not putting things off" and tackle things head on, Treasure people around me, Stay healthy and well away from hospitals, Continue to declutter/decorate house slowly and not get stressed because I can't do everything at once.0 -

That would make it last longer and in the end should save me money as I won't be replacing the S&G as often....

ive got a load of stuff too. do run out of things like face cream but i am going to try and stop stockpiling things. i often buy toiletries because it feels like a treat and they are easy to access on ebay. i often buy them to make me feel better. if i just had this it would change my life. we all know it does not.0

I think this is a really good idea, I'm doing the same saving the good stuff as a treat to use at the weekend or if I'm going out!!0 -
Hi. Can I join in please?! I really need this challenge! I have got so much stuff stashed away. The only thing is, I have failed already as I actually needed a face powder (none in the stash - I checked) so I thought I'd be a bit MSE and just get the Rimmel one, nice and cheap, but it was 3 for 2 in Sainsbury's so I got three! Oops! But apart from that I haven't bought any toiletries since this challenge started so I'm just one day behind. To be honest, I'll probably need some shampoo and conditioner at some point but I should be mostly ok with this challenge. Right, I'm off to start using stuff up! Good luck everyone!Clothes challenge 2011 £254.08/£500!!!Toiletries challenge 2011 Trying!:j:T:j0

I started doing something similar last year when I was sorting out my Christmas presents and realised how many toiletries I had. I stopped buying stuff on offer unless it is showergel for dd (She goes through it like there is no tomorrow) and am slowly working my way through the stash. I have managed to use all the shampoo I had but have still got numerous conditioners/straightening lotions/body lotion/butters/handcream etc.
I have saved a lot of money especially as I started only buying clothes if I really needed them and would wear them in the near future. I have not been perfect and have got some tops that I haven't worn yet but I am a lot better.
I find that the more often I go shopping the harder it is to resist temptation.
When I need a treat I tend to buy a Lush bathbomb or melt (but only one at a time) as I use these straight away so they don't get added to the stash and forgotten about.0 -
Hi all, I am new to messaging on these boards, but the original reason I signed up was because of the S&G hatbox frenzy... I bought 2 (all for me) and then went crazy in the Boots half price sale (and that is on top of all the stuff I already have).
After my last trip to the Boots sale (where I bought gifts), I had decided enough is enough and that I am going to use up everything I have before buying anymore... then I discovered this thread and it sounds ideal (I am glad to hear I am not the only one with a Boots/cosmetics addiction). I think I have enough skincare, make up and bath/shower products to last me most of the year. I will need to buy toothpaste and deodorant when they run out, but that should be all...!!!I'm buying No More Toiletries, I'm Deluttering and I'm Losing Weight for 2010!0 -
You can return unwanted gifts to Boots, if you haven't got a receipt, they will exchange for goods to the scanned till price. I did this yesterday and exchanged something I didn't really need for something more practical. It's a way of reducing the stash and getting the boring esssentials for no-spend.
Tip check out your essential replacements on the Boots website first. When you go to store, do the business and walk straight out again. DO NOT linger!!0 -
Thanks! My problem with the gift sets is that I get too excited and then take them out of the packaging to try them out/smell them (so can't return them). I have bought a few things for my family abroad because they can't get them there and am going to post them off this week...
I totally know what you mean about not lingering, it is dangerous and very good advice. I need to avoid Boots/Superdrug/TKMaxx/Poundland etc for a while (anywhere with cheap cosmetics)!I'm buying No More Toiletries, I'm Deluttering and I'm Losing Weight for 2010!0
