:o:o:o:oUm, not sure if this counts but have come to realise we have several bottles of unfinished animal shampoo too. That is TOTALLY my fault not my DH's. I think that we are the toiletry version of ''feeders'' He gets smellies for me, I get them for the animals and share mine with him, plus we buy them for ourselves. So what's that called? Smellers? scenters? Cleaners? or Primps? :D

Anyway, courtesy of a rather nasty rolling incident my dog dog has just had a two shampoo and conditioner shower: finishing a bottle of shampoo and dog conditioner. When she's dry I will (cringe) give her a squirt of dog perfume. :o. TBH, while we should be finishing these things, I do find the dog perfume good, its hard to find a pleasant one, but it significantly cuts down on the dogginess in the house. Dog-dog has a bath every week or two (she gets filthy but has really short hair so dries quickly, and between showers I wipe her with a face cloth/wet hand towel as needed) I need to keep her smelling good and she sleeps with me. The other dogs never get on the bed though.

so, I'm going to try and get through all the old animal shampoo, and some is really old, from pets I had as a little kid...

edit: oh, and just noticed last nights nails are now hipped/peeling on at least three fingers. :(
  • Right, here goes! This is what I have 'in stock' but am not currently using:
    13 shower gels (!)
    6 scrubs
    5 body lotions/butters
    3 body oils
    2 hand washes
    4 deodorants
    8 lip balms
1 bath foam and 1 bath oil (even though we don't have a bath!)
A whole bag full of testers, trial/travel sizes which I need to investigate and also a box full of Lush bombs/bars/soaps ( I am a total Lush addict, so glad we don't have one here!)
Also, 2 toners, 1 eye make-up remover, and various self tanners, which I will definitely never use so really should pass on to Mum or mates!
I don't have any back-up face cream, cleanser or toothpaste so will probably need to buy these in the next few months but otherwise I have enough shower/body stuff to see me and OH through for the rest of this year and into 2011 I should think!
This has been fascinating - I didn't realise I was such a hoarder. I want to start on my make-up but am a bit scared - my friends could do well out of it though!

  • Hi

Don't post here very often but I just wanted to check in and say I'm still sticking to the challenge and hope other Toileteers are also. (Well I've noticed that you guys all support one another - bit like Musketeers.)

I've been okay actually - find this much easier than the no-clothes challenge. Even walked round Boots during the sale sneering at everything I didn't need. Or even want, come to think of it. Didn't get much in the way of smellies for Xmas either - unlike previous years - so this will help. Got one bar of lush soap - but sadly in a scent that I'm not too keen on :( Still using it though!

Don't know about anyone else but I've found that I'm a bit more careful with everything now. When I have a good stock of stuff I would use it willy-nilly....now, I carefully measure out a small amount of shampoo because in my head I know I'm not buying anything new. Don't think I'll ever substatially stock up on anything again once current levels are depleted. Maybe buy 3 when on offer but never over-stock again. But things come on offer so often its not worth stocking up. I also like the fact that I'm gaining new space in drawers

Thanks katieclampet & everyone else - for giving me the motivation to stick to the challenge

I'm doing the same thing with makeup.

I have so much of it and I'm always tempted to buy more when I'm in Superdrug.

I'm doing okay so far. OH is also keeping me in check.lol.

  • Further investigation has revealed 3 more lipbalms, 3 body sprays, 3 random hair products (when have I ever used 'scrunching' gel?!) and a full bottle of my favourite perfume which I must have stashed after the sales last Christmas - result!
Thanks everyone for the lovely welcome, I am looking forward to having a very MSE year in 2010 and really sorting myself out so this is a step in the right direction - just need to stay clear of Boots and Lush and all will be well!

Finished off a packet of facial wipes today although there weren't many in there to be fair! I'm about to use up some tiny tubes of trial foundation and trial moisturiser that have been sitting on the shelf forever.

Well, I'm still on the straight and narrow. I haven't been in Lush in about three weeks now - not that I need to frankly, with the mountain I got for Xmas and birthday. I haven't had my new Lush Times yet though, so that'll be the big test.

I'm still using my Trilogy Everything balm on my face on a night time, and on some other patches of dry skin and my skin feels great. I will buy this again (once the stash of face creams is used up).

Almost finished a Liz Earle foot cream (freebie). It's ok, but don't think I'd buy it. Finished off a Nivea cellulite gel. Probably won't buy this again.

Going to have a bath tonight to use some of my Lush stash, bath bomb and some Karma cream, and use a REN glycolactic peel mask - I think I might even be able to finish this one off if I cover my neck and decolletage. Another buy again product.

eta: I nearly succumbed to a new foundation yesterday. I got some little samples from cosmetics a la carte, and they sent a mixed foundation that was absolutely perfect, colour and texture-wise for me, but I'll wait until I've finished my Dior one first.
