I have to say this is what I have done this year used up all my old lotions and potions and perfumes LOL and today went mad..... It does get rid of all the half bottles and then you only buy what you actually use.
The perfume i normal like is £40 a bottle and today my daughter paid today £21.00 same size and with a body lotion.
I even told my daughter to make me an IOU and she paid for it she was happy as it was half price
I also bought a few gift sets of products i normally use and because they where gifts sets got them half price.
so no more buying for me this year again......until all used up!0 -
I'm definately joining this- I have sort of already made this promise on the 'no buying clothes' thread but now I have accumulated more stuff from Christmas- I don't need to buy more toilettries. Its going to be hard though with all the sales especially the body shop sale..... x0

Please count me in too. I have an absolute addiction to all lotions and potions especially if they are anti-ageing and have an spf. The trouble is as Happy Lottie says its really hard with all the bargains in the sales. But I have cupboards full of stuff and I really need to use it up this year.0

You are all terribly good! I find that I generally stop using something for a reason!
Last year I had a big purge. Lots of the unopened stuff went to the local charity shop and the opened ones went to friends and on freecycle.
Not very money saving I know but I start 2010 with a clean slate0 -
Count me in too! I have stuff left over from last Christmas and had more added to it this Christmas!
Soap and glory stuff is lovely, btw!Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Unortunatley I have just almost finished doing this with all my toiletries, but it was totally worth it. I haven't brought any new shampoo, shower gel, perfume, deodrants etc for about 8 months! But have now run out so will stock up and start over!!0

Yay! Timely thread, Katie!
I did this last January and have saved a fortune this year.
One tip is to totally avoid the Toiletries aisle in the supermarket....saves a lot of time as well as money! My toiletries are now planned purchases from H &B etc.
I am also trying to use my shampoo etc more economically now. I used to end up lashing shampoo and conditioner all around the shower, I now decant it into a 100ml bottle, which is less easier to get the product out of so extravagently, so waste less each time.
I haven't managed to convert DD however and still don't really need to buy much as I follow behind her using up the quarter full bottles she has discarded.
Collect cream sachets from magazines and save up all the little bottles and pots from your Christmas gift sets to decant toiletries into for hols next summer.
I'm not totally tight! Scrimping this way makes me feel less guilty about splurging on what I really want to buy!!
Good luck and remember, just because you've got loads of products now, doesn't mean use them extravagently. See how long you can make your stash last!!0 -
I have subscribed to this thread so count me in Katie, although hubby did buy me the S & G hatbox and DD bought me two S & G giftsets.
I have not bought any toiletries for months, but I still have loads in my stockpile.
I did use a lot of my excess products and made hampers for various female members of the family.
Like Bronnie I avoid the toiletries aisle and also Boots, although today DD and I popped in and she bought loads; I was more restrained and only purchased the Marc Jacobs Daisy set as it was half price. This will be put away for part of DD's birthday present.0 -
Nope! I learnt from this last year!
One of my new years resolutions was to not buy any more mascaras after counting 15 mascaras I owned. I also thought about including all makeup but wanted to be realistic.
I seemed to have grown a new addiction to body care products and hair care products! Creams, exfoliators, dermabrasions, washes, creams, gels... its madness! I could say "no more until I've used up the products from a very big box (too scared to count it!) but I worry I'll start on something else!! This year I think I'll just allow myself to buy whatever I want but to try to bear in mind what I already do have buy leaving a post-it in my wallet with a reminder!0 -
can I join you please? I have sorted my drawers and cupboards and I bet I have enough stuff to last me a year! The only thing I may need to buy is mascara but I will use up my boots points for that!0
