lostinrates wrote: »OK....advice please. There is a strong possibilty I'm going through duty free soon, and so would make sense to get my replacement Estee Lauder stuff then (thank goodness I didn't buy at the weekend..)...but this leaves me with another issue. I'm going out hand luggage only, coming back can bring hold luggage. I'm only going to be away two and a half days so will be ine with most things (I might even use a travel size frizz ease I never take thinging its far too tiny), but what about perfume? I have some at home for day one, am travelling again on day two so can spritz in duty free BUT will bath before a fancy supper...I'll want perfume then....and the last half day I suppose I could suffer being without perfume..:) But I'd rather wear it.
Normally I'd go with my ten decanted/under 100 ml fluids (I always wonder if mascara and eyeliner count?) and buy perfume/frizzease anything else I (Think that I) will need air side, then huck this stuff in hold on the way back. I don't NEED more perfume (hve an un opened one of favourite, plus current) and nothing in an under 100 ml container.
I hate the 100 ml rule, I can't decant perfume. (I also think it very stupid you can't take nail varnish through but you can buy it airside: along with also flammable alcohol.). Anyway.....what do I do, buy another perfume in duty free??
ETA: and anther thing:o I'm fed up with those sandwich bags, is it allowable to take something like a plastic pencil case with a zip top? the locking thing at the top of the sandwich bag always fails for me, and if it is allowed, does it break rules of thread to buy something not strictly needed?
I think the zip-lock bags are necessary I'm afraid, but you could always put your bag inside a toiletries bag, then just take it out while going through security, and put it straight back inside the toiletries bag afterwards. A bit of a faff, but means you can use the better bag to store them in while you are away from home.0 -

can someone sensible please talk me out of buying all the lift and luminate products that are due out on the 27th Jan in Boots. I managed to get hold of the day cream with spf15 and it leaves such a lovely glow on your face and it really is the best moisturiser I have used.Better than p+p and I have still got all that range x2 to use up.( You know the £60 gift set before Christmas)
Also I bought a really lovely revlon radiance eyeshadow in peach light from Savers for a £ the other day and it is the best formula I have used and now I want to go back and buy all the colours.
Help please:o:o
LOL - Oh dear SA - what ARE you like?!
Are Boots going to discontinue the Lift & Luminate stuff in the next little while? No they're not. Do you still have loads of P&P to use up? Yes you do. Go through your makeup stash and sort out all your eyeshadows. Add up roughly how much they cost you - now, do you STILL want to go and buy more?! Step AWAY from the makeup! Yeah, you do have to use the ziplock bags flying from the UK - and yes, they are a pain in the a55 - the idea about the bag in a bag, as it were, is a good one though. Remember also it's only liquids, gels and pastes that need to be in there - all the rest of your stuff can still go directly into your ordinary sponge bag. Not sure if all the airports use the same bags but the ones they have piles of at Stansted seem pretty sturdy - I've not had one fail on me yet. Was shocked when flying back from Dublin on Sunday though to find that they charge 1 euro each for the bags there! Be cautious with containers which aren't marked with their capacity too - you may have problems with a jobsworth on security who won't accept them.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just washed my hair with some "Naked: Shine unveiled" shampoo - 2 lathers as usual as it makes practically no bubbles. I bought it (along with several of their other products) a while back when my skin was going through a really sensitive stage - I have a mild intolerance to Sodium Laureth Sulphate which is of course in practically ALL bath/shower/shampoo type products so I bought those with the idea that I could use them when my skin is feeling more touchy, and use nicer stuff the rest of the time. Problem is I like to feel a shampoo is working - and because the Naked stuff hardly lathers it just doesn't feel as though it is. WIBA? - Hmm.....well possibly but only if I really needed to lay off the SLS again for a while. Same goes with the rest of the products in the range with the possible exception of the deep conditioning hair treatment which was really nice and effective.
Another option may be to try washing your hair in just conditioner for a bit when your skin is sensitive. I've started doing that because I was getting spots on my scalp. There usually isn't SLS in conditioner. Is it just me that is totally taken aback at the complete hysteria on the Grabbit board over the Boots sale? Absolutely unbelievable - people acting as though their lives are going to end if the sale doesn't start tomorrow, others taking the day off work specially, and others talking about borrowing supermarket trolleys so they can carry everything they want to buy?! Scary stuff!:eek:0 -

House arrest may be the only answer:D:D Be honest-Do you need these things:
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!NO!!!!!!!!!!!!NO
A lot of us are having 'No buying toiletries' withdrawal symptoms. I find it hard but know that I don't need any more stuff and to buy more would be foolish. salesaddict you can do it and remind yourself that you don't need anything from Boots.
I went away and now I'm back.:j:j0 -

There are several ranges that don't use SLS. I was looking them up the other day (for when I don't have any more shampoo in stock... maybe 2013!). One is the "Halos and Horns" children's range, which isn't too expensive.

I've not read that thread for a while, but am going to go down to my local Boots tomorrow morning early. I want a pizza stone
I don't find my hair feels clean if I do the conditioner only thing. I know it IS, it just doesn't feel it, if that makes sense.
Good luck with your Pizza stone - I hope they've got them and you manage to grab one!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

You know that buying the items will only give you a temporary high and then you'll be back down to earth with a bump feeling exactly the same as before (only with a bit more guilt added in for good measure).
Enjoy your new peach light eyeshadow and just make do with that for now. I know you can resist, especially with all us like-minded ladies behind you for support!Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0 -
Evening ladies, well ive painted my nails and they are a bland tea rose type of shade, does not suit my skin tone at all, why did i buy it
!!
Had a real hair pamper earlier and my locks are looking lush, my skin is feeling great and i think my body is loving this pampering.
Sold a few bits on ebay so feeling pleased with myself and have decided to return some gift sets i purchased just before christmas, so am really trying to make up for my S&G slip up:p.
See you
