:D A lot of hard work! Here's the long and boring story...

I've always been overweight, got bullied at school, had to leave at the age of 13 due to a nervous breakdown :( The weight kept piling on until five years ago, I tipped the scales at 22st  Anyway, I bought myself a puppy and he changed my life. Benji is a Cocker Spaniel and needs LOTS of exercise so basically walking and watching what I eat has done the trick. I can't recommend calorie counting enough :D I've lost 3st in the last 6 months and have just over a stone to lose before I get to my goal weight. I also have the website "Diet Hell" to thank, there's so many lovely people on there all in the same boat and we encourage each other every day. (Hope that isn't seen as advertising?)

Needless to say I feel so much better about myself and it's so good to go in a shop and not have to go to the "big" sizes anymore. Also got myself a lovely fiance :D

Back on topic, I've just had two packages arrive from eBay sellers - lots of charms and some crimping pliers - if I can figure out how to use them :D

Lol must be your mind ;)

Did you guys know you can sell directly from a facebook fan page now?

...you know when you sold an item on Facebook did it remove the item from the shop window or did you have to remove it so that no-one else tried to buy it? Only asking cos when lady today bought the bracelet it stayed in the shop page as if it was still avaiable! Also (sorry) do you know if theres a way of getting updates about the fan page without actually going onto the fan page?
    Done now :D sorry x

p.s sorry think I've worked out the problem with it being still listed...I'd listed it as unlimited! Doh! :D

Hi everyone, ive made a few bits (finally!) and ive had someone interested in buying one of my bracelets but ive no idea how much to charge for it?? How do all of you decide how much something is to be sold for? I know how much the actual materials cost but not too sure how much to add on? thanks for any replies :)

This is not an easy question and likewise not an easy answer. The simple answer is :
Materials + Overheads + Labour Cost + Profit = Wholesale Cost
However, this is all dependant upon what your additional costs are and how much time you spent making it, but I would suggest you have a look on ETSY and FOLKSY to see what others are charging for similar things.
If you are using special materials (precious stones, gold, silver etc) then your price should reflect that. It can also depend on whether you are just wanting to make your costs back plus a small profit or make a business out of it.
Make sure you cover your costs plus a bit for you is the simple answer....
If you still cant decide post pics and ask us what we would charge :)

Hi everyone hope your all getting the gorgeous sunshine we are :)

I've managed to find a little time today to make some more bracelets, I've listed them on my fan page on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=605773302&ref=profile#!/pages/Crafty-JuJu-Designs/116211508405032?ref=mf) your welcome to go have a nosey if you'd like :D I'm hoping to get some time to play alittle this weekend....I've got to go get ready for work now so no playing with my beads tonight :( booo!!

Suze1984 - When it comes to me pricing I never really know myself but I'm not after getting rich with my hobby as I enjoy it so much so I always think as long as I'm getting my costs back + alittle for my time thats ok.
Like Kandipandi said check out Folksy & Esty to see what other are charging...I did that, I found it did help :D xx

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Evening girls. I've "liked" both of your fan pages. Mine is here if you want a nosey

I price my jewellery by cost of materials x 2, add your labour cost (divide the time it took you by your hourly rate), and then I add 30% for overheads.
That may not be the best way but it's how I do it at the mo.

thanks yukki, have 'liked' yours back, lol ;) I have priced my stuff quite cheaply at the moment as I have mainly been using the beads I already had, but from now on whatever I buy I'm gonna work out the cost so I can at least figure out how much each piece has cost me. I'm just worried people won't think my stuff is worth more than a few quid at the moment! :rotfl:

I started looking at jewellery making as a way to add embellishments to my sewn items, zip pulls, bag charms etc. but the jewellery took over all of my attention - it's rather addictive!
Anyhoo, this weekend I was back to where I started making makeup bags and adding little zip pulls with some odd glass beads I had in my stash:

Pics of the bags are on my blog but just posted the jewellery related bits here.
