Just had an email from Make Jewellery magazine for a subs offer £11.95 for 3 issues with a free beading kit worth £29.99 looks like you get storage box plus some tools, wire, beads etc. It would be ideal for those starting out.
This months mag comes with a free glass pendant. Might have to grab myself one!

Hi Princess Vikki,
Jilly beads sell silver and gold toned charms starting at 35p upwards. They have quite a lot to choose from too.

I ended up getting a load of fimo from .craftcellar her prices were pretty good. I couldn't wait though so popped into hobbycraft today while I was in Glasgow and got a childs starter kit as it was reduced so gave me a few colours to play with. I've just spent the last 2 hours making cupcake and donut charms and mille fiori beads, they are in the oven at the mo. I'll post pics when their out. It's my first play with fimo since I was 15 I used to make loads back then.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0

I got mine from a local bead shop, but I know they do have a website, mine were 10p each I think, in the shop you can mix and match, although I'm not sure whether you can online, they are slightly cheaper online too, you get more for your money and from what I can tell P&P is £1.50 for orders under £20 and free for orders over £20, so fairly reasonable by all accounts.
Website is www.bedazzlebeads.co.uk

Hiya
I am completely new to jewelry making; have nothing and have never tried!
I've started a thread about what I could make for favours at my baby shower, and somebody mentioned on there about making key rings. I've now got it in my head that I'd perhaps like to be able to make something like that, but perhaps with a baby-type bead / pendant. Something like a dummy, or bottle or stork, etc.
So I am now on a mission to find something appropriate!! I've looked on a fair few bead sites but can't find anything. Does anyone have any bright ideas, or should I just give in to the fact I'm looking for the impossible?!
I'd appreciate your help :-)

second thoughts - its a pretty pants idea isn't it? Why would somebody who's not got a baby want to wear / use something with a baby-related charm on it?
no no no Emma, silly girl!0 -
Why not make some bag charms tho using some nice pearls and bicones with tiny baby feet charms http://www.prettycreativeathawthornlane.com/details.asp?ID=2906 to mark the occasion? You could even whip up a few tiny baby shoes as favour boxes to pop them in.

Then you could always make some personalised choccie bars in baby theme. Take say a bar of dairy milk cover with a pretty paper wrapper and add a motif, die cut and some swirly text saying Emma`s Baby Shower etc. You could even do some cello bags of milk bottle sweets tied with pretty ribbons.

After a few weeks of collecting odds and ends, I finally made my way to a local (ish) bead shop and bought some findings so that I could make something. I have decided to take up this hobby along with many others lol, so that gift giving becomes cheaper (in the long run). Anyway, at the prices I have currently bought them, the bracelets work out at £1.96 and the earrings anything between 40p and 66p a pair. So far, my daughters (I have 4) have claimed all but two pieces, which will be for a friend of my eldests, as it is her birthday in a few weeks!!
I must say, I absolutely enjoyed making these and I find it very therapeutic. I am pleased with myself because of the reaction I got from my girls, and because I managed to produce something lol!!
Hope you all enjoy....
I bought loads of stuff the other day but came back with about 20 headpins!!! I need about 200! So I made an elastic bracelet instead.
I did manage a few earrings but had loads of trouble taking photos of them, they are quite small and I didn't manage to get focused in on them and the sparkly beads just created loads of light. You can stand there and agonize........
Till your agony's your heaviest load. (Emily Saliers)0
