If I've done this right, there should be a photo below of my first attempt at a pair of cascade earrings. Probably not a good choice for a beginner and I made loads of mistakes on them, but they look very good from a distance!

Cost about £1.60 in materials and it was obvious that I'd bought the very cheapest quality findings. I noticed the silver plating flaking off my headpins when I was making the loops for the little beads (4mm fire polished). The earring wires supposedly 925 silver, but I suspect they are also plated. The earrings weigh 3 grams each.

Hubby says I should buy sterling silver, but I figure whilst I'm practicing the techniques I should use the cheap stuff.

It was great fun (took me about 2 hours though!) and if the materials were better quality, I wouldn't feel embarrassed to sell them. Thanks to princesspoppypop I finally found the big oval beads at Empire beads, so ta for that and thanks to everyone else who's put their pics up here and offered advice and help :)

  • Your earrings are beautiful thistledome. The blue is so pretty.

Totally agree they are very lovely!

I received my first order from Jillybeads today and I'm delighted with it! I ordered the stuff Monday night and it arrived this morning. Im excited to get cracking now, but I'm at work (on my lunch of course). :(

My swivel clips and my tiny feet charms have come today, now all I need is some beads and some pins to put in the middle of the two lol!

    Hopefully they'll be here tomorrow!!

Ooo its all so exciting... when I was at work I used to get my jewellery and craft stuff delivered there and it was awful knowing I had jiffy envelopes filled with lots of lovely goodies that I couldn`t play with until I got home:(
There was also a craft shop in the next building to where I worked - so guess where I spent my lunchtimes...... I always came back with a stash of ribbon, card, fimo, beads, templates etc. My colleagues thought I was mad!

  • Here is one of my latest makes. Its a gift for my best friend - was going to give her the red vampy one I made but last time I saw her she was wearing turquoise and thought this would be perfect with her outfit! Its a cluster of glass pearls in shades of turquoise with some hermatite mixed in and some ab berries.

Lucky Friend! I love those matt/rough(?) pearls you use, they look almost edible - like sweets.
