I have made one sale too, but like you say getting out there and promoting it. I saw the lady who bought your bracelet as she put a pic on her blog and mentioned your name. That post was then linked into the forum on folksy so I expect you'll get loads of viewings from that.
I'm enjoying it but would like to sell to buy more materials and also to be able to put something on the tax return next year rather than just expenses lol.
I couldn`t believe I had been mentioned on D`s Blog it was fab! I was walking round with a massive grin.:D:D:D
It is scary when you see the cost to sales... in the beginning its all expense till you build up your bead kit. Ive just bought some really good wire cutters and plan to get some crimp formers next for my sterling silver bracelets.

I want to make some sterling pieces but have nothing yet so that's going to cost.0

You're not wrong about the expense in the beginning!
At first glance this looks to be a cheap hobby, but every time I find a project I want to make, I realise I need to buy more materials for it. So far I've bought plenty of beads/findings etc, but made nothing. I pulled apart the first (and only) memory wire bracelet I made 'cos it was pants
Now I want to make some earrings, but I need a large (approx. 15mm) oval crystal bead and I can't find them. The only oval ones I've found so far are flat backed ones. I've tried ebay and lots of bead sites like jillybeads, pj, beads unlimited, panda hall etc etc. I'd like plain crystal or a light amethyst colour. Not too dear would be nice, too. Any ideas?Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

Hi, can I ask where you buy the cheapest Fimo/polymer clay? I used to make stuff years ago and had loads of tools but gave them all away. I used to buy it when I lived in Saudi Arabia, it was so cheap there. Ive had a look on Amazon and Ebay but cant find a good price for buying bulk colours.
thanks
btw I love all your creations ive been folllowing a few blogs.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Sorry nic I`m not that much help here as I buy mine from the local art shop. Sculpey is an alternative to fimo and comes in bigger blocks.

Hi guys, I'v been watching this thread with interest and I'm so impressed with all your makes.
I am into sewing at the minute and have been making bags and makeup bags and was planning to make some bag charms to go on them.
I went to a craft show thing today and there were loads of bead people there and I did an hour workshop to and came out with a bracelet! I was well impressed and now I am addicted.
I spent a small fortune and will be watching this thread with interest, and if I actually produce something I will post here. Thanks guys.
eta. these were the bead sellers there today,
southamptonbeadshop.co.uk
totally beads ltd - really lovely stuff and quite reasonable (the cheapest there today)
Rosarama.co.uk - these guys did the workshop, some lovely beads but a bit pricy
Not sure what they will be like to order from online but the middle one was the cheapest and had some lovely stuff and there was a huge queue here!
Not sure where you guys live but lots of people today were discussing the upcoming Bead Fair at Harrogate, one of the women who makes these to sell goes to the Harrogate Fair once a year and stocks up there. You can stand there and agonize........

I've strung one of them onto some cord to see how it would look and put it in my Folksy shop. I've also created a twisted one by accident, but I like the way it turned out so I think that'll be headed for the folksy shop tomorrow.
can i just say i think that green one is fantastic how did you make it and was it difficult, its very unique and looks expensive:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0
