My mum is the same even in my day-job in which i work 40 hours a week in IT Support, she works 2 days as a hairdresser and I do appreciate that it is hard beng on your feet all day she says my job isnt a real job because i sit at a desk......??

And as for the jewellery making i am apparently being selfish by not offering to let my 19 year old sister make some jewellery with my stock........my sister hasnt even been to my house since i started doing it!!

Even though she lives at home with no job and lives off mum and dads money, i live in my own house with my own mortgage, bills and family and somehow its my fault she isnt doing anything???

Sorry, thought seeing as we were ranting :o

Ladies I have not been posting as I have not been making jewellery, I have been sewing lately but I have been reading you all every day.

I feel for you Julie, Jo & Vicki I really do. I sit at a desk 40+ hours a week have I not got a proper job either? My son has just been working with me for work experience and he was saying that it's not bad here and that he could cope with this if the money was right, and I told him no, you have to find something you love to do, something you can take pleasure from or pride in and do that and find ways to make the lifestyle fit the money (I understand it's easier to this when you are first starting out, I just couldn't pack my job in to do my hobby instead). We spend so much of our lives at work that it's such a shame not to do something that you love. stick with it and ignore the critics, if you can manage to make enough of a living doing what you love then where's the problem. I am guessing that those critisising are frustrated in their jobs/lives ;)

I cant believe how unsupportive some people can be! I stuggle abit as my brother (18 months younger) now has his own business as a joiner and is being really successful, and my Dad also does manual work. I on the other hand have just finished uni. My mum has moved out now but when she was here Id get the 'You do nothing all day why didnt you do x, y and z housework.' And she was saying this dispite the fact I was a full time student (studying Maths so not like it was an easy peasy degree/masters) with a part time job and trying to run a little side business part time too (editing). Unfortunatly some people just cant see past their own self and see that other people work in other ways. I have a similar thing of people not understanding what I do now, as I have just left uni and im now editing full time (I film a local colleges productions) and everyone just thinks Im sitting at home doing nothing! My brother has been particularly awful of late about this, ok I might nto get dressed or leave the house somedays (hahaha) but Im sat at the computer for 12 hours! He thinks justbecause he goes out of the house and does manual work he is 'above' me and so I should spent all day doing housework for him as I 'do nothing else all day except sit watching tv.'

Some people hey! They will just never be happy for you and wish you well!

Luckily my family and friends are really supportive about the crafting but its just a little hobby at the minute so its not quite the same.

Crafty Juju+VikkiJD: If something is not real work cause your sat down then I stand no chance as I doubt a maths related job will ever involve me sprinting anyway hahaha

    Are you my sister?

I have parents just like that, oh and other members of the family too, asking me when I am going to get a proper job, (been saying that since I was 26, apparently working in factories, supermarkets etc is not proper work) and now with the jewellery

When my mum said what she said I did ask if she then thought my checkout job was not a job as I sit down & she didn't say anything:eek:I know what she was thinking!

I don't think your selfish at all :) If shes 19 its now up to her to get herself sorted isn't it? I know that prob could sound harsh its just I moved out for Uni when i was 19 & had a big shock at 1st of how much money you needed but it didn't take me long to manage...I got a weekend job...that helped a little :p

you have to find something you love to do, something you can take pleasure from or pride in and do that and find ways to make the lifestyle fit the money

This is my dream...to make things & sell & one day make a reasonable living....I'm not after getting rich (would be nice to win lottery though! :rotfl:) I just want to do what I enjoy all the time :p

Giggle_Fairy - Maths Degree/Masters...WoW :T I can do basic maths..the kind of maths I need to know for everyday life but thats about it! :rotfl:Well done x
My hubbys parents & sisters are more supportive than my family...they at least say how nice things are & ask hows it going :o

I'm going to try & find some time to play later....I may even just sit at the table & put the beads out in front of me & jot ideas down...oh dear I'm not working (running around)...no I'm working on something I LOVE :D
    :wave:Hi, I have a passion for crafting.......I'm always up to something :rotfl::rotfl:

Don't worry they will come :) I've had more sales through work friends & MSE friends...mainly requesting a colour or style to be made than buying what I have made :) I just keep putting the word out on Facebook about my fan page & give out business (homemade of cause :D) cards to people who have bought off of me hoping they will pass on the good word about me, so at the mo its all word of mouth sales for me! Good Luck sweetie, like I said 'They come' :D x

Kelly-Lou - :j Welcome to a very addictive thread :D I bought this child size memory wire off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270415478405&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT it fits my 6yr old fine (hes a boy...I needed a model! lol he didn't mind :rotfl:) Can't wait to see what you make :) x

Thanks again for eariler (look out quick rant) I know you only get one mum & I love her to bits but sometimes.....:o shes like it with me over losing weight , 'you'll never do it' is what I get not the 'oh have you lost some weight' or 'you look nice' which I would lv to hear.....she like it over my life, always comparing me to others. I think its mainly because she never had the 'good life/good husband' thing which I have...hope I'm making sense....shes the only person to make me feel mad to the extent I sometimes do think why do I both & reach for the chocolate or the wine (& I don't really drink!)

Sorry look at me I'm off again...you'll all be charging me soon for therapy sessions! lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
