Does anyone know where I can buy individual beads from online?
Ive just found The Bead Store in Cornwall and spent an absolute fortune on beads but they are all gorgeous. I looked in my bead box tonight and I have a lot of beads but they are all very similar. I needed some different shapes. Thank you anyway.0 -
I'd love to make jewellery, but I'm a bit scared.
I have a friend who does so, and she's very arty ~ she makes her own beads too!
Can a complete, non arty beginner really pick it up without any lessons?I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Gravitytolls - I think so. I am really non arty and managed to do it. Not been brave enough to put my pictures online yet but maybe one day. I have made loads and my nieces seem really impresses although they are only 6, 10 & 12. Mind the 12 yr old asked me to make her 4 of the fimo bead bracelets i made her which I did only to find out she had sold them to her friends at school for £3.50 each. Only found this out cos she asked me to make a couple more for her and her mam told me not to unless I charge her for them because she is selling them on. Little madam she is. Its a good job I think she is cutish.
Just another question if you ladies dont mind helping. I am wanting to use some small charms I have found on a website and was wondering if they would be okay to use on either stretch elastic. I have 3 different types of this. 1 is the really thick one which I was recommended when I first started but this doesnt stretch much and is meant to not brake easily. I also use another which is .8 thick and another which is quite stretchy which my little niece likes me to use for hers. Anyway could I use charms on this material or would I need to use another type of thread/wire. Any help is greatly appreciated.0 -
Oh my god I am dangerous! Everytime I dare g on ebay Im spending more money on bead supplies!
I have been so busy these fews days and will be for the next two weeksSo Im reading away but struggling to reply properly. I also have got lots to put on my blog! Just need to find the time to do it!
Tried my hand at a bag charm tonight. Quite pleased with it although I found that the clasp I choose means it will only fit bags with a certain size thickness of the ring! I tried it on my brothers gfs bag and it just wouldnt fit. Luckily I only bought one as I wanted to check quality so I now know to try another type at least! Have just bought some mobile phone cords too. I didnt think anyone bothered with these anymore as most phones dont have the holes but its my best friends Mums bday on Sunday and she just broke hers the other day (a beaded one from Turkey!) so I am making her a replacement as a gift on the request of my friend hehe
Hopefully I can catch up with you all properly soon. Welcome to all the newcomers and keep posting pic everyone I love them0 -

I'm currently disappearing under a cloud of red and white beads, I have a fair on Saturday and thought it would be a good idea to do some keyrings and simple bracelets in footy colours, oh well, if they don't sell, then I can just put them away for 2 years lol0

Thats ok
lol :rotfl:I'm just the same, always wanting to make something...I'm always thinking of ideas I want to try but never have enough time, I must really start jotting them down! I find I do most of my jewellery making in the evening when the kiddies are in bed, in front of the TV & it stops me snacking
gravitytolls -like VikkiJD said go for it, but I must warn you it can get addictiveI keep thinking I don't need any more beads as I've got enough to work with but I find when I go to order some more chain or materials I end up putting some beads into the order as well! I got my Sanctuary Beads order yesterday & done exactly that, my hubby said 'haven't you got enough beads yet?' & my reply was 'but they look so pretty & sparkly' :rotfl::rotfl:I just can't seem to help myself....:p
Jo_F - hope the fair goes well for youThe England match is Saturday so I feel you could do ok
fingers crossed for you x I've made a couple of England coloured jewellery items too....felt it needed to be done
lol

Aaaarrrrr I can't beleve what my mum has just said to me  'what I'm doing is not really work cos I'm sat down  I'm being paid to make jewellery items & wedding cards....how is that not work  Sorry needed to rant, shes always been like this with me & my love for crafting...she just doesn't seem to get it....she was a nurse before she had kids so she always wanted me to follow suit but I'm just not that way! She never feels like she gives me any support over what I want to do....I know at the mo I'm not making near enough to live on but its what I have always wanted to do, to make & sell my own designs....its my passion....when I went to uni to do the Textile degree she was the same then, says its a waste of time  I'm going to stop moaning now, sorry, but when its just me & Emily I need someone to talk to older than 2!
Right after dinner I think I will do some work & make something! lol :rotfl:xXx:wave:Hi, I have a passion for crafting.......I'm always up to something :rotfl::rotfl:

Are you my sister?
I have parents just like that, oh and other members of the family too, asking me when I am going to get a proper job, (been saying that since I was 26, apparently working in factories, supermarkets etc is not proper work) and now with the jewellery.
I sent my mum a text nearly 2 weeks ago to tell her that I had had a picture of one of my bracelets in Bead magazine, and so far I haven't even had a disinterested 'oh', there has been total silence.
Plus some of them do not appreciate being given something that I have made as a present, well boohoo, I'm not going to bother actually going out and spending money on these people.
Feel free to rant whenever, things like this have reduced me to to tears before now, I know just how it feels
