Did you set this up as a normal facebook page? I had a look at the help pages earlier and totally confused myself - also someone once told me that you can sell directly from Facebook - does anyone know if this is possible?
    thanks again, Debbie

    Hi all,
Just catching up on posts, i was on a canal boat sipping wine at the weekend while the boyfriend did all the steering and locks, well trained or what! ;)

Crafty Ju Ju - Just reading your post about that woman at work, id say she is quite clearly threatened! Its a good job there is no-one like that on here eh! I dont know where i would have been now if i didnt get help from you lot :rotfl:

Im waiting on my jilly order to arrive today so i can start making everything i need for the jewellery party next week, shame i am at work till 6 every day and have a pile of ironing taller than my (almost) 5 year old daughter!!!!

Will also get round to following all of your blogs today, i will post my latest makes on mine tonight.

Oh and might tackle opening a facebook shop so i will keep you all posted.

    Busy Busy Xx

Can I just say something, and hopefully not get people's backs up, this is from my own observations.

Some of us do jewellery making as a living, and there fore have to charge accordingly for it (not ripping off type of prices, juse realistic ones given the cost of materials and time), for all those that do it this way, there are a lot of hobby jewellery makers, that charge next to nothing for their items, I have seen them at craft fairs, and I have also seen other jewellers in tears because of it.

I know that hobbyists are only trying to make back what they have spent out, but please remember, if you have made it, charge accordingly for it, it's so much easier if we all sell to a similar price, do not undervaule your work just because you are not a business. Value and be proud of the work that you have put in to, good workmanship deserves a decent price.

Have a look on Etsy and places like that for prices, even visit the various craft forums and have a look at people's prices, don't use Ebay as a gauge for what to charge for things, you have to practically give the stuff away on there.

As a friend of mine noticed recently, fresh water pearl bracelets cannot be made and sold for £3.50, she has no idea how this other woman is doing it!

Ok, mini rant and pleading over :)

I tend to price according to how much an item costs to make then adding some on for myself of course! I think everyone has different styles and therefore can price differently according to where they get the materials from and so on.

It is a patchy area but i think everyone joining this forum knows that it is a highly saturated market.

On another note thanks to Crafty Ju Ju's instructions i have created a fan page for 'Blingery' and will be launching the shop tonight

  • Thanks for all th advice so far, im so excited just not really sure where to start lol, what would people suggest would be the basics? would i need a starter kit or am i better to buy things separately, am looking to do earrings, brooches, necklaces and bracelets.

I have also just looked on the folksy website how cute is some of the stuff on there. i am going to have to put a lot of effort in to refraining myself from buying lots of things on there me thinks lol.
Been away for ages and feel like a newbie again!
