There was another jewellery making thread running last year in this part of the forum, there are a lot of ideas, tips and questions answered in there.

Yes the other thread from last year had some lovely ideas on it and alot of info as well. Worth a read for sure. Maybe the 2 threads could be combined so that it's all in one place.

These were for a customer order last week, only just got round to resizing the pics (the items were delivered on Saturday)

In order, a silver plated charm bracelet with an assortment of turquoise glass beads, Swarovski crystals and Miyuki cubes.

For a really simple necklace you will need....

    Eye Pins
    Jump rings
    Trigger catch
1 x extension chain with drop
    Selection of beads

Make your links ( you need to make around 14 links) using an eye pin threaded with a selection of beads. I would do 7 links in one pattern and 7 links in a different pattern.
For the pattern an idea would be thread a eye pin with a glass pearl then a spacer then a fire polish bead, then another spacer and finish with a glass pearl.
Once you have all you links you will need to use round nosed pliers to create a hook on the straight end of the eye pin.
Join all your links with a 5mm jump ring between each link.
Attach the trigger catch to one end of your necklace with a jump ring and the extension chain to the other end with a jump ring.

I have been looking at making some stock and then opening an etsy shop. Does anyone do this? Is it worth while? Need to do some sums first.

i was wondering about this also. thinking more about folksy as it's UK based

    http://www.folksy.com/

Would it be worthwhile. I seem to have too many craft ideas for females and already have too many bracelets :o

I have quite a few teenage boys and males to buy presents for. does anyone have any ideas for some simple male bracelets/jewellery?

I'm loving all the pretty pictures of hm jewellery on this thread :T

There are also MISI( make it sell it) and Dwanda to sell your handmade items on.

Ebay could be an option but people on there tend to want things for a bargain and don`t take into account the time taken to create each piece and the fact you can get mass produced jewellery from China on there for something like 2p a bracelet... ok slight exaggeration but you see my point....

There doesnt seem to be a lot selling on Folksy as lots of people have never heard of it. Folksy needs to be advertised more as its mainly only us crafty peeps who know about it.

Another option is to create your own website... freewebs.com is a good place to start.

  • Here is my latest make Ive called it Pink Princess Dream. I`ll either pop this in my online shop or put it away for craft fairs.
