Hello and welcome to diaryland,
Hope you don't mind me joining you in your journey too. I want to lose about a stone in weight and generally just get more healthy, did the slimming world before, and it does work but I agree it is expensive. There is a forum on here for slimming world - might be worth a shot joining that for a month or so to see how it goes and saving your £4.75 (I think it is now is is?) per week. Good luck for your son in driving test - that'll be a whole new worry for you then when he is out alone in the car!

Thanks spendalot, I'll have a look to see if you can do slimming world online........I don't like the idea of having someone else weigh me either. I'm in North Wales, surrounded by mountains (and snow today!).
Hi rictus & primula thanks for joining...I'll have a look for that slimming world thread..it sounds like just what I need. It will be twice the worry primula DS1 is 20 and has been on the road for about 2 years. I'm always worried when he's out, but as he can't afford to take the car to uni with him ........its one less worry when he goes back..........replaced by worrying.........if he's ok...or eating well!
OOh, the soup is ready........I'll report back later xTotal debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
The soup was lovely. He's a very good cook and he enjoys it too. Doesn't do the washing up but I can't complain too much about him!
Just had a look on ebay....I've sold a top for £9.99...!!
I wish I could think of something really original to sell on there.Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Snowdonlily - just found your diary. As for Slimming World, from 2nd Jan for a couple of weeks registration to the meetings is free. So if you go for 1 meeting and sign up you get all the books with the bumf in and a password for the online site where you can find everything else you need. You could keep going if you want but if you don't you will have all the books. They also sell cookbooks and stuff at the meetings so you could also get them if you wanted.
I will subscribe to your diary as I too have some weight to lose, about 30lbs so will keep up to date with how you are going.
Good luck

How did you guess!!! I had the same realisation that I needed to kick myself up the whatsit as no one else was going to sort my life out!!! Luckily I'm not in debt but we do spend too much on stuff we don't need. I have a problem in that my DH thinks if the money is there buy it! For Christmas I asked for a sewing machine and made a point of telling him I wanted nothing else. I wasn't being mean it's just that was all I wanted. Christmas morning I opened my presents and I got - sewing machine, foot spa, ebook reader, pj's, dressing gown, slippers and flowers!!! It was lovely to get so many things and I really do appreciate them but I could have bought new bedroom furniture with what he spent!!!!!! That sounds so ungrateful, I don't mean it to.
When I try to spend less and bulk cook etc he cant' understand it. I will break him though, he's much better than he was when I first met him.
Good luck with your challenges.

Morning everyone - hi taffy!
Sounds like you had a good Christmas. My OH and I decided not to buy each other anything this year as we're in the middle of extending the house. I thought he'd never stick to it..........expected a small gift at least..........but come Christmas morning, no gift for me, and he actually gave the lovely leather wallet I bought him to DS1, saying that he didn't like it!
DS2 turned up for his driving test this morning to find out its been cancelled ...........again! This time it was because of the snow, first time it was because of flooding, and the test that he actually sat but failed was when he had a really bad stomach bug and felt rotten. Poor thing, he was all psyched up this morning, but they have said he may be able to take it this afternoon.........fingers crossed!Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
AAAAAAh, I wan't to scream!!
DS1 has just dropped a bombshell that his bank balance won't cover his rent tomorrow, so that's another £230 disappeared that should have gone towards my bills! I really need to pay off as much as I can before Sept because then we'll have two at Uni.
Part of me is really angry with him for spending so much......but the other part wants him to enjoy his life before all the responsibilities start taking over........(I bet that's the part that got me into this mess to start with!).Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Fingers crossed for your son hopefully taking his test this afternoon. Why don't you ask DS1 to give you part of his rent this month and the rest next. It is nice to let him enjoy his life while he can but he still needs to understand responsibility. He won't be able to ring the bank when he has a mortgage to say he hasn't got enough!!!! Have a good New Year, I will pop back later to see how your son got on.Need to sort my life out! :T0
