Hi Snowdonlily - I keep up to date with your thread, hoping one day you will inspire me, you may have done it today. I have the need to declutter, ebay and clean, only problem is its 11.30 at night!!!! Hopefully the feeling will still be here tomorrow! Will let you know.
Regarding your dilemma with a new job. You say he money is less but is the job nearer where you live? You seem to spend an awful amount of money on petrol for work, if the new job was nearer your home then you would save x amount on petrol which would counteract the difference in pay - hope that makes sense! I say go for it, I am at the moment in a job I have done for nearly 13 years, I stayed out of loyalty and still feel guilt that I am leaving the end of next week. I am going to a completely different job, same type of job but different environment. The money is less, not by a great amount, but once I had said yes to the job and told my boss I really didn't care and felt so much better in my self. Your personal feelings are important too, I know you are trying to pay your debts off but being fed up with your job does have a knock on effect on the rest of your life, been there done that before this job!!!! thats why I knew I had to do it before it got to that point.
Anyway, rambled enough hope what I've said makes some kind of sense.

Hi everyone......hope you're having a good weekend.
I'm having a really lazy Sunday today! I was all set to go for a mooch around a local car boot today to see if I could pick up any bargains. The carboot bargains thread is really inspiring when you read about all the fabulous finds everyone makes...............BUT I didn't get up in time.
To be fair I didn't get to sleep till 4.00am so its not quite as bad as it sounds. It was DS3's 15th birthday yesterday. We went for a meal (more about that later) and after the meal DH and I went to the local for a couple of hours leaving DS3 and about 7 of his mates to have a "party" while we were out. We left DS2 to keep an eye on them (he's nearly 18 but quite sensible)...........and to be fair, they were really good. They did have a few drinks but you have to give them credit where its due.........DH and I were home at 12.30am and they just shifted the party into the other room while we had a glass of wine in the lounge! My hope is that by being open about it and letting my boys have a couple of drinks when I'm around they won't have to hide anything and they won't try to rebel over alcohol as they get older. Having said that, I made sure that all they had was low alcohol lager!! It worked with the other two anyway., So I hope it works with No3. The few cans I'd bought didn't last very long, and I couldn't believe that they just sat there and talked until 4.00am!! I didn't go to bed until they did, so I'm absolutely shattered!
We had a lovely meal, but I accidentally set off the fire alarm in the restaurant...........well,.............it was a silly place to put a fire button...........I thought it was the light switch in the ladies loo!! The whole place had to be evacuated...............I can NEVER go there again .......I was absolutely mortified:rotfl:
Hi Taffy...........thanks for posting.....how's the decluttering going? I've just checked my Ebay and 4 items have bids on them....yayy! I don't really mind ebaying, its just packing things up that I'm not that keen on. I'm going to go and work on my CV now, what you said makes sense. I've only been in this job for about 3 years, but before that I'd been in the same one for over 10, and I felt really guilty for leaving too..........in the end you've just got to tell yourself its just a job. At the moment, I get paid time and a half for working weekends, so when you take into account that if I got it, I'd get weekends off and spend less on petrol, there's not that much difference in the pay.
I'll let you know how I got on later

Well I've done it! I drafted my new CV and covering letter this afternoon and emailed it before I managed to talk myself out of it!!
I applied for this same job about 5 years ago and got nowhere, but the skills and qualifications I've gained in my present job are much more relevant now to the one I've applied for so hopefully I'll have more success this time, unless it was just that my face didn't fit.................wish me luck!!
My aim for this week is to do everything straight away, not put things off and stop saying yes and agreeing to things I don't want to do
I'm on a roll today..........so far I've managed to apply for a new job, get more bids on my ebay items, clean my house, prepare a lovely meal, have a NSD, and get my "lettucephobic" sons to eat salad for dinner :A
Ooooh, yes, I also won £10 on the lottery last night.
So far today...............I've managed not to set off any firealarms :rotfl:Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Hey
Check you out, you're on fire this weekend! Good luck for the job, and all of the above is what I need to do too.
And you snook in a lottery win too. What a fantastic weekend.

Hi Thrifty, thanks for posting.
You can't help but be inspired by some of the diaries on here.
Its about time I got my bum in gear and did the same...........if I don't get this job, I'll just try for the next one.......in the meantime, I'll just make the best of the one I've got:)Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Hello everyone.......I hope you all had a good day!
Mine didn't start so well.......but it got better.
Had the day off work today to go to the dentist. I finally had that root canal treatment my dentist has been trying to do for months. Not nice
I bought my first charity shop bargain on the way home from the dentist.....I got a lovely stripey jumper for £2!
I got an email this afternoon from the Company I've applied for the job with. She thanked me for applying and wanted me to answer four questions before they decide whether or not to invite me for an interview........I hope that's a good sign
Typical me, though.......I'm dithering again! My husband thinks I'm mad even considering moving to a lower paid job.

Hi Snowdonlily - any news on the job front today? Good luck.
My new job starts in 5 days!!! Tomorrow is my last day at this job, will be sad.
We are putting the house on the market too, so def need to get decluttering and ebaying!! Sorted lots of clothes and shoes for school, we are collecting clothes etc and they are being collected by a company called Bags2School who then give the school money!!! I know I could have ebayed lots of the stuff but I think my hubby would have gone mad as there isn't really anywhere to store it!
Have a good day and keep us posted.
Taffy xNeed to sort my life out! :T0 -
Good evening everyone.............hi Taffy!
Good luck with your new job next week.
I have an interview next Friday the 23rd...........:j
I just have to find myself something to wear now!
I have to wear an uniform in my present job, so if I get the new job it will make a nice change to be able to wear my own clothes ...........I'll just have to make sure I don't spend too much!
I was feeling really guilty at work today, then I just told myself not to be so silly.....its just a job, and if a job makes you feel frustrated and cranky its time to get out. If I don't get this one, I'll just keep looking.
I still have loads of decluttering to do too. We're not moving house, but we're in the middle of building a two storey extension that seems to be taking forever. Our builder is semi-retired and has a home in Spain, so we only get about two months of work out of him then he goes off for a couple of months in the sun. In a way it works fine, because we have time to save money before we move on to the next stage of the build. So far, the exterior is nearly finished and we've managed without borrowing money!
DH keeps going on at me to start decluttering the attic before we knock through to the new bit.......I haven't finished decluttering the house yet!! I really need to do a couple of carboots if I could get my bum in gear and get organised.
I sold a top on ebay yesterday, and have a few things ending in a couple of days. Has anyone noticed now many people seem to ask really silly questions lately?
I know I shouldn't be thinking about it, but I'm really tempted to have my nails done next week. A girl who lives nearby has just started a mobile beauty business and her prices are really reasonable. I haven't had them done for about a year.....I think it would cheer me up........DH probably wouldn't even notice!
Right..........I'm off to look for a cheap hotel room in Cardiff for two nights in July........DS1 will be graduating and I love any excuse to spend a few days in the city.

Oh fab news on the job interview. Have my fingers crossed for you. And silly questions on ebay, tell me about it. 'Can you tell me what this item will look like on me even though you don't know what I look like, and can you tea leaves tell me if my boyfriend will like it on me' Well it wasn't exactly that, but you know the kind of questions... You get a 14 day returns policy with a shop, with ebay they get 45. This isn't a shop, this is honest people (for the most part) trying to get a bit of cash for their old togs. Get a grip. Grrrr! You'll no doubt see my other rants in my own diary posting.

Just seen your rants thrifty.........these new postal prices are ridiculous. I'm selling a pair of my son's jeans, really heavy ones - I'll be out of pocket when I post those. What happens if they sell to someone overseas? Does the maximum charge still apply? I think I'll probably stop selling stuff on ebay once I've finished my declutter!
Another thing..........why is it that I can see a load of stuff listed that are obviously fakes.......but ebay won't let me list a pair of genuine Dior sunglasses?
My silly question was about a pair of size 5 shoes.........she wanted to know if they'd fit a size 6, and if they didn't fit her would I take them back?? Why would a size 6 buy a size 5 in the first place?? :rotfl:Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00
