Good to see you back. Sorry to hear things haven't been too good. Good luck with the job and enjoy getting your hair done (sometimes no treatsat all can be de-motivating).

P.S. Have you thought of doing a degree yourself?

Hi, Maman, thanks for replying. I've actually thought a lot about doing a degree, just never taken the plunge.

I was off to Uni when I found out that DS1 was on his way.......then life just got in the way.

I feel like I'm at a point when the boys have their own lives. DS1 is back to Cardiff in Sept to do his masters, DS2 is off to Aberystwyth Uni in Sept, in a year DS3 will have left school...........and at the grand old age of 40 I still haven't decided what I want to do with my life...:rotfl:

I'm very happy with my new hairdo.......I'll let you know if blondes really do have more fun!

Hi sorry to hear you have not been having a great time, grrrr to OH in pub. You know you ran up the debt but I bet you wish he would help you pay it. I go through the same with my OH, to be fair he does not spend but constantly checks everything and do and keeps reminding me the debt is all my fault. You know that without being reminded.

Hair sounds lovely, helps you to feel better. I have been going lighter too by having lowlights but hate it and am going back Friday to go dark and have it all chopped off. Been growing it for a year and its the longest it has ever been but I hate it, its so ages me, don't know why I bothered. It also feels in bad condition since going lighter.

Off to London at the weekend for a few days with OH and boys, been very good and saved lots of Tesco vouchers for days out and food. Got a good deal on the Premier Inn so all in all quite a low spend for London!

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and don't stop posting! x

    Hi Spends and everyone else.

I hope you have a fab time in London, you deserve a holiday and some relaxation.

I'm being very lazy today..12.44pm and I'm still in my pjs....(awful!!) :rotfl:

We had a lovely meal last night, I had mussels to start and had fillet steak as my main course.....didn't have room for a pudding. I think my parents also enjoyed their evening, they don't get out much these days. My dad looks fit as a fiddle at 75, but my mum seems to be getting smaller and smaller...she reminds me a lot of my granmother now.

DS1 goes back to Cardiff today. He'll catch the 4.00pm train and gets into Cardiff just after 10.00pm tonight. Wales is a small country, but travelling from North to South by bus or train takes ages!!

DS2 will be home soon. I've promised to take him shopping to buy a new shirt. He has a College party on Friday and the dress code is smart/casual......guess who'll be paying for that one!

I wonder if they got my job application this morning...I sent it recorded delivery yesterday cos the closing date was today. I hope they send me a letter if I'm unsuccessful.....I hate it when you apply for a job and they don't even have the manners to let you know when they don't want you.

I spend a lot of time reading the ebay forum here. A lot of people seem to do very well out of it. I wish I could think of something everyone would want to buy :rotfl:then I could make loads of money.....and wouldn't have to go out to work....I could work at home in my pjs....:)

What is it with boys? Life is never simple!

DS1 is now safely on his way back to Cardiff, but I've just got back from the doctor's surgery. DS3 came home from school with pains in his chest after a rugby game. He can't inhale all the way because it hurts too much, so I took him to the doctors to be checked out. He may have a cracked sternum but we won't know until tomorrow! He can't get xrayed until the morning. One of the drawbacks of living in the country is that we don't have an A&E closer than an hours' drive. The poor thing has to make do with extra strong painkillers till tomorrow. Even if it is cracked, I don't suppose there's much they can do about it...is there?

I've had a no spend day today...(other than the petrol I've used running about all over the place).....but I've had to chase up some money owed to my by someone I've done some freelance work for. I should have had my nails done this evening, but I had an attack of conscience and cancelled. I don't suppose she was very happy, but I need the £25 more than she does at the moment.

Well we've had the xray...........he's got a fractured sternum. He's in a load of pain, but they could only give him painkillers. They're really strong.......he can only take three daily, and when he's taken them, he goes to sleep. I hope he's better by the end of the holidays!

Why is it that when I should be thinking about ways to save money, all I can think of is what I want to buy?! I didn't buy anything today except a newspaper and a bottle of diet coke, but sometimes, when I think about how much money I owe its just overwhelming

I wish I was one of those women who don't like shopping! I think I must have shopping in my genes.......my grandmother is 100 years old in just over a month's time and she still goes shopping for clothes and has her hair done every week! Not much hope for me..........is there?!

Sorry to hear about DS, he must be feeling really sore.

Well done on cancelling the £25 for your nails for this week. Near where I live, there's one of those Chinese places that do acrylics. They only charge £5 for a file and polish on real nails so I make do with that most of the time. I just have a proper manicure occasionally and in between have a cheapo American polish. I paint an extra couple of clear top coats on when I get home and it lasts easily for a couple of weeks.

I think some treats are needed for motivational purposes!:D

    Hi everyone.......hi Maman!

Yes, DS3 is very sore and his back is aching now too (the Dr said it would!). It hasn't stopped him going out with his mates this evening though.......but he's walking very gingerly, poor thing.....and he can't laugh! He's an outdoors boy, so he doesn't make a very good patient :(

£5 for a file and polish is really good. I'll just have to look after my own nails and treat myself to a manicure before DS1's graduation in July. (That sounds really spoilt :rotfl:).

Work was unbelieveable today, it was just constant from 9.00am until 6.00 o' clock. I work in tourism, and judging by today, a lot more people seem to be holidaying at home this year. Takings were down, but numbers were nearly doubled compared with last year!

I'm off tomorrow, so we're going car booting. I haven't been bargain hunting since last summer, so I hope the sun comes back tomorrow. If I get up early enough, I should be able to fit three boot sales into my morning.....yayy!

I think I need to get a life....I turned down a night out tonight, just to make sure I can get to three boot sales tomorrow morning :)

Time for a glass of wine I think. DH had to do the weekly shop today because I was working. He was in a stinking mood because there wasn't a single parking spot at the supermarket (the population of the town multiplies tenfold on a Bank Holiday)...........and when he finally got a space, there was hardly anything left on the shelves! Now he knows what I have to go through every week!

It must have been pretty traumatic for the poor thing cos he was already at the pub when I got home :rotfl:

Its not all bad though, he's promised to bring home a takeaway

Not quite a no spend day for me today. I bought a newspaper and a little bag of mini chocolate hobnobs (naughty I know but I couldn't resist).

    I'm back!

I was all set to start this post with a huge rant, but before I got the chance to start spouting, I got some bad news that just put everything into perspective.

I had a phonecall about an hour ago. I lost another friend to cancer tonight.............a really, really nice man, so the ranting can wait till another time.

My problems are insignificant compared to the loss his family must be feeling, so tonight, I'm just going to be thankful for my three gorgeous boys...........and give them a great big hug :)

That's very sad news snowdonlily and as you say it puts life into perspective. My SIL died in April (had a horrible stroke in January and never really recovered) and it's certainly made me take stock. She was the first person really close to me that's died (others have been accquaintances or much older generation) and it's really hit hard. I'm conscious how precious life and health are. That being said, there's always room for a rant, letting off steam is good!
