Today's been a looooong day!
Been on a training course all day ..."Managing your Team". These courses are usually a waste of time, but today's was surprisingly good. Although, I wasn't very comfortable with all the psychometric (not sure if this is the right word!) tests! Its not very easy to comment honestly on your workmates' character (or lack of) when your line manager is sitting next to you :rotfl:
Other than that, I picked up a few good ideas........so here's to starting to put these new ideas into practice. I probably won't do anything drastic till Tuesday....... Bank Holidays are always a v.v.busy time for us.
I almost had a NSD today. I had to pay £7.50 to park my car, but this'll be reimbursed, lunch was free, but on my way back to the car, I couldn't pass a charity shop without having a look. I bought 2 books for £1.......but the two ladies at the till were two of the most miserable shop assistants I've ever seen! I nearly asked for my pound back. I'm not being mean, I know they're volunteers, but part of my work is retail, and a smile and a "thank you" goes a long way!
Sorry about that, rant over
On the other hand, I've sold a few things on ebay these last few days, and when I checked my feedback earlier, I've received some really nice comments, so I suppose some things in life have a way of balancing each other out. (I hope I haven't jinxed myself now!)
My house is like a Youth Club tonight. DS2 is in one room with two mates, DS3 is in the kitchen with 3 mates..........and they're on a mission to empty my fridge
I can't get my Sex and the City fix tonight. I didn't catch it first time around, so I've been watching it on ComedyCtrl. They show them back to back all week......but not on Fridays
I'm completely hooked now!
Right....I'm off to rescue my bottle of wine before the teens decide to drink that as well .Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -

What a horrible weekend.
I worked till 5.30pm yesterday, then after a quick shower and change of clothes, H and I went out with friends for a few drinks.
The evening started badly........we had a huge row before we went out and it just got worse from there.
Someone I thought was my friend.........is no longer and if I hadn't been over the drink drive limit.................I would have left him last night. Don't worry, I won't go into details, but it wasn't nice
If I'd just called a taxi and gone there and then, I probably wouldn't have a marriage today. I spent the night on the sofa........and all of today lying in bed. I can't face anymore arguments.
He's gone to the pub now, and I'm starving, so I came down for a tin of soup!
At least today's turned out to be a NSD......and a good diet day :rotfl:
Don't think I've felt this s**t for a long time........and I really don't know what my next move should be

Hi there, been offline for a while as hospital stay and getting better. Feeling good now!! Just catching up on your diary. I hope things are better today Snowdonlily, sounds like you have had a bad weekend. Let us know how you are doing xxx0

Hi Spends I hope you're feeling better.......I've been wondering where you'd got to. I hope everything is ok for you now.
It wasn't a very nice weekend at all........but I'm still here, so I spose thats a good sign. He on the other hand has been out every evening since Friday. I've been thinking things through this week and I've come to the conclusion that I need to look after myself more.........from eating better to making more time for myself.
I haven't been brilliant at moneysaving this week. I bought a glossy mag this morning and had lunch in the pub with the boys from work today. One of the lads was leaving today so we took him out for lunch. Just me and 5 men!! It was good fun. I thought I was going for the cheap option.......I had a chicken ceasar salad......but it was £9! I thought that was quite expensive to be honest.
I've got the day off tomorrow, and I've decided I need cheering up, so I'm using some of the money I transferred from paypal to go and get my hair cut and coloured. I've been colouring it myself for months.........so I'm going to let the experts do it tomorrow. I've also booked someone to come to the house tomorrow night to do my nails and have my brows waxed. She's just finished a college course and is starting out as a mobile beauty therapist. She charges £25 for acrylics. I don't think thats too bad. The girl that used to do them for me charges about £38!! I know it doesn't really make much MSE sense, but sometimes a girl just needs to be pampered..........and if no one else is going to do it......you've just got to do it yourself
Other than that nothing much else to report. I've sold a few bits on ebay, but on the whole spent more than I've saved this week.
Hope you all have a good week xTotal debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Hi there I am much better now but do need a full hysterectomy this year, thinking about October time. Luckily I get private health with work so thats a real help. You are so right about looking after yourself - I know what its like being a working mum of 3, you are always last on the list and we run ourselves into the ground looking after everybody else. There is being MSE and there is having a life, as long as you are going in the right direction then you should have some treats along the way if it cheers you up - I don't know about you but if I go without everything it makes me misereable and that makes me spend so its a vicious circle! I hold my hands up and say I have acrylic nails and have them infilled every three weeks - I know its money I could save but when you work hard you deserve some treats. I coloured my own hair for a couple of years to save money but the condition was not great and the colour was too deep. I have started to have it done again at a salon but I do try and get as long out of it as I can before redoing. I save money in lots of other areas and sell whatever I can on Ebay to compensate. I am doing really well with Quidco recently too.
I agree on the eating front too, when I eat well I feel well and everything seems so much more positive. I have been making loads of home made soups and I do feel great, tried a lovely red pepper and tomato one this week, it was gorgeous!!
You go girl, lunch with five men sounds fab!
Anyway enough of my waffling, you enjoy your day off and pampering, you deserve it!!
I am off with the kids tomorrow as they use our school for voting so off to Cadbury World, how do I resist that chocolate!? xx0 -
Morning everyone!
Sorry about the hysterectomy Spendtoomuch, and glad you're feeling better. My friend's mum had one a month ago, she's well on the road to recovery now and feels so much better too.
I'm sitting on the sofa in my dressing gown, watching the Jeremy Kyle Show and looking like I should be ON the Jeremy Kyle Show :rotfl:
I'm popping to town this morning for a coffee with my mum, then its over to the hairdressers for 2.45pm. There's an hour's drive from here to find a decent hairdressers..........one of the not so good things about living in the country. I spose I should factor in the cost of the petrol ......but I won't!
Its good to know I'm not the only one that likes having my nails done.........I've really missed nice looking nails. Shallow I know, but as you say, moneysaving is all well and good, but you also need a life.........and these nails have been paid for by ebay. Have you noticed how we always feel we have to justify it whenever we spend money on ourselves?
I'm off for a shower. See you later..........I have a cake with my name on it xTotal debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
I went for my hair do on Thursday and ended up having much more of a change. I've gone from dark brown to blonde! I haven't quite got to the shade I wanted, it was so dark she had to do it in stages. I used to be blonde a long time ago, so this is one step further in my plan for getting the old me back!
The new nails are also great, but they're a bit too long to be practical. You should see me washing up with my pink rubber gloves :rotfl:
We had a brilliant night out last night. There was about 16 of us, all couples and we went for a meal to a lovely country pub a couple of miles down the road. To be honest, I wasn't sure about going after what happened last week, but I sorted things out with my friend............and didn't get home till 3.45am this morning.....brilliant!!
One of the couples are home from Australia for a couple of weeks, we ended the evening trying a bottle of Aussie rum they'd brought over with them ...............it was 54% proof
Haven't spent anything today......I've been too busy cleaning and washing. I kept expecting the hangover to kick in at any time........but it didn't.........bad sign d'you think?

Not feeling so good today. I went to bed to read a book about 8.30pm last night and fell fast asleep. Woke up at 3.30am with a horrible migraine. I really hate them...........and especially hate the way they seem to happen whenever I have a day off

Hello everyone...........I haven't been around for a couple of weeks. To be honest, I haven't felt like posting cos I've done more spending than saving and things haven't been too good between my DH and me.
I have to justify every penny I spend, and he gets to spend every evening in the pub. I'm tired of spending every evening alone............I might as well be single!
I've been having a lot of migraines over the last couple of weeks, so I listened to my mum (which I should have done straight away) and went to the doctors. He gave me some Sumatriptan tablets, which are fantastic. I took one the other day at the first sign of a migraine starting and within 5 minutes it was gone! I still felt slightly fuzzy, but didn't get that debilitating headache I usually get.......Fantastic!!
Just updated my totals.......£712.36 paid off this month. I wanted it to be more, but I've spent more than I should this month. Its also DS1's 21st birthday today..........where did all that time go??
I'm having my hair done this afternoon. I've gone from brunette back to blonde. It was so dark, she had to do it in stages. More spending!
My last bit of news is, I've tried for another job. Its a step up from what I'm doing now, but I'm not holding my breath. I know I can do it, but it'll probably go to someone with a degree. Its totally frustrating when you really want to do something, and know you can do it as well as anyone else........but not having that little piece of paper means you can't get your foot up on the next rung.......Unfair!
Ok, rant over.........I'll just have to wow them if I get as far as the interview stage......:rotfl:
